The West Australian - 2010

Perth Royal Show - 2009

The Royal Show is Perths biggest community event and attracts over 400 000 visitors each year. In 2009 Backyard Aquaponics were invited to display our unique products and services in the aqua-farming pavilion. The show proved to be very successful and a great deal of interest was generated.

Cockburn Sustainability Awards - 2009

The Cockburn Sustainability Awards, aims to recognise individuals and groups alike, for their contribution to forwarding sustainable practises in Cockburn. Backyard Aquaponics was the winner for the Small Business Category, and took home a cash prize of $1000.

Small Farms Magazine - May, 2009

A three page article on Backyard Aquaponics. The article focuses on the relivance of Aquaponics in Australia and provides an up-to-date description of Aquaponics and its benefits. The article also describes Black Soldier Flies, an insect that are often fed to the fish in a system.

Cockburn Sustainability Awards - 2008

The Cockburn Sustainability Awards, aims to recognise individuals and groups alike, for their contribution to forwarding sustainable practises in Cockburn. Backyard Aquaponics was a runner up of the 2008 awards. Aquaponics featured strongly throughout the night, with Faye Arcaro and her family, winning the Environmental Well-being Award.

ABC Gardener of the Year - November, 2007

The ABC Gardener of the Year, recognises unique and talented gardeners throughout Australia. Faye Arcaro was the 2007 winner. Her two hectare garden in Jandakot, WA, has been designed into a series of garden rooms, and is a showcase of productivity, sustainability and beauty. Faye is a keen organic gardener and grows most of her family's food at home, most of which is grown in her five bed aquaponics system.

Grass Roots - October, 2007

A very comprehensive article on Joel Malcolm and Aquaponics. The article is three pages long and covers a wide range of topics. Joel Malcolm writes about his experiences and his compounding research into the field of Aquaponics. A relatively new topic for Australia, at the time of publication.

My Block is a regular section of the Australian Countryman Magazine, and featured an article on Joel Malcolm in April, 2007. The article, titled, "Fishing for a Vegie Harvest," provided many Countryman readers with a great deal of interest and information.
