Hi nickywayne:
What brand is your extract, does it include iron? I have been using Maxicrop with iron. You might start with a capful and wait a couple days to see how it goes. Typically folks only add it per week or couple of weeks when the plants look like they could use it. I added a bit too much to my system yesterday and the pipe outlets were foaming a bit.

Chelated Iron helps systems with high Ph.
It makes the iron available to the plants in a soluble form.
Generally used when leaves appear to be yellowing.

Won't hurt your fish. Probably obvious, but add it to the water in the growbed as opposed to on top of the gravel. I use powdered seaweed and liquid chelated iron. Works great!

Sorry to hijack this year old thread, but I was wondering if you add your maxicrop on a regular basis?

Thank you,
CD

You can add it as often as you like within reason.

I add a splash about once a month but I did it more regularly in the begining as its the kinda the only thing feeding the plants before a nitrate colony builds.
