I built a 12sqft Aquaponics DWC system and it seems to be working well other than a few leaks. To stop the leaks I used liberally used 3M 5200 on the vegetable trough and fish tank PVC fittings on the outlets. Is this safe for fish and the vegetables I'll be growing?

I'd also like to know, because I use that stuff on everything!

lol, Joel means you have already used it... so a moot point if it is safe or not?

google gives a few varying answers, seems people use it for aquariums.

Our local SDS says it is toxic to aquatic life? But that is probably before it cures?

http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebse ... D7SSSSSS--

I can see why people use it. A very strong and durable adhesive/sealant. But it would probably be better to use something that is approved for drinking water contact.

Though if the way you have used it means minimal contact with the water I guess the exposure is low?

Yeah, I read the conflicting reports on-line myself. I feel alot better after hearing that it was safe from a respected aquaponics farmer. :headbang:

It's cured now and it will submerged in water.
