Hi again everyone. I'm posting this on behalf of Harry, my mailman. Harry is building a system out of 2 ibc´s. (One ibc fish tank, the other cut in half to make 2 GBs). He also raises rabbits. I asked him if he was planning on eating the fish, and he is not. Here's the question. Is anyone currently feeding rabbit poo to fish? What have your results been like?

Thanks, Felix

Depends on the fish IMHO, are they tan tans? Carp and bottom feeders may eat rabbit poo though wouldn't be too much nitrogen in the water?

I can't say I'd recommend it to be honest.

Any sort of manure like that sounds like a bad idea. Pathogens going into the system, water getting dirty quicker, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Yeah I'd just compost it, or find a neighbour who wants compost.

Rabbit poo is amazing tilled in to dirt gardens. We raised a boat load of rabbits growing up (we showed them... at one point we had about 280 rabbits and we took anywhere from 30 to 40 rabbits to a show almost every weekend through the summer).

The rabbits that were in the barn had trays under their cages that we used sawdust in the trays... mix sawdust with rabbit manure and till it in to your garden makes it extremely easy to turn dirt over (might have been the added sawdust that helped too as it would hold moisture and lighten the soil) and grew plants like crazy. My grandma loved it for her flower gardens, but our veggie gardens grew like crazy too.
