Heres where you have the opportunity of fame and (mis)fortune, get your name up on the forum thank you page and the possibility of winning ZIP. :notworthy:

I have a poly/semi shade house 3m wide x 9+ m long. down one side is my existing setup. IBC F/T, 7 part IBC G/Bs and sumps under neath.

The other side is open for your input, ideas, plans, suggestions, $$$ donations (if your crazy) :support:

I have already
IBC F/T
10 x 3m rectangular NFT tubes, 4 blue barrels

I am game/stupid enough to try :funny1:

drum filters
deep water culture beds
wicking beds

??
??

so let the ideas fly, best design that is put into operation wins a years subscription to my bumbling adventures.

I'd probably try Deep Water Culture but you'll need to figure out how many fish needed to run the setup. I'd look at the FAO guide to small scale aquaponics. You might be able to run fish tank to media bed to DWC and then back to fish tank - that would be the simplest for a small DWC setup. The media bed would be handling the pre-filtration for the DWC, otherwise you'd need additional filtration.

I could also see using this for wicking beds but the downside of this is having to haul the soil. The up side would be that the beds warm at a different rate from the regular AP media base grow beds.

well your either so in awe of my offer or still considering how to offer better advice than the others. :dontknow: :D

(thanks Scotty) but DWC does not grab me

So I be thinking along this but there are flaws

IBC F/T overflows into GB for pre filtering
then a filter drum of some kind,
then every 15minutes for about 5minutes pumped up and run through my NFT
then flows to sump where its
pumped back into F/T

problems I see

would require very low fish population as very little nutrients would be used.
how to strengthen NFT tubes...3m long they tend to sag when held either end. Can easily make several A frames with cross bars to support them.

Excess water could be used in wicking beds, both inside shade/poly house and outside. Also have a crappy trailer that could hold 3 200 litre blue barrels and cart water to other side of house.

Glad to give it a shot Tonzz.

On the setup you're thinking about, you might not need anything but the media bed for filtration prior to the NFT. If you do need the extra filtration you'll mostly be looking at removing the fines.

Cheers
