Lizard, good lookin' setup and good to see another Georgian. I think we may take over Australia in AP setups. :)

I'm just north of you in Statesboro.

I was up that way a month or two ago. Picked up a 1500 gal stock tank for my expansion. They were the cheapest place I could find, well worth the two hour drive to save $400.

That pic is a couple weeks old. I need to update my thread, but life seems to get in the way of getting stuff done around here.

Agri-Supply. Was worth the drive.
I believe it will work great for the next system, but I may re-engineer it for any others.....we'll see.

Hope to get some pictures up soon.

Dewey here,
I am in Tyrone, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. It about 4 miles from Peachtree City if you are familiar with the area.
I recently set up (six weeks ago) and am currently operating a single 14 ft3 grow bed (media based) with 250 gallon tank. Two weeks ago about 60 tilapia fingerlings and 4 gold fish (started the system with). As the fish grow, I will rapidly approach my max capacity of 40 (1.5lb) fish so at some point, I need to expand my system to accommodate my fish.

Dewey,

Where did you get your fingerlings? I've been trying to find a place in Georgia to get some fingerlings but haven't found a place yet. Any help is appreciated in finding a source for these fish in Georgia.

Not sure if you were interested in buying by mail, but that's what I did. I'm in southeast Georgia, and purchased my fingerlings from http://www.fishkis.com

They arrived quickly and in good condition without a single loss. The prices shown for the fingerlings include shipping, so it didn't seem too bad. There may be cheaper sites, but I'm happy with my purchase.

Thanks Lizard. That seems pretty high even with shipping. I'm looking for either bass/catfish combination or bass/koi for my tanks. I'll keep looking.

MariettaAqua,

take your time setting up the system. measure twice, cut once. get permits for greenhouse if required because many city/county govs require permits for greenhouses and other structures. The permits are usually not that much and if you don't get one and were required to have one your neighbors could give you grief. complaints to the city/county govs may cause an inspector to come out and tell you to tear it down, get the permit, then you can rebuild it. It's better to check first.

With the aquaponics, take your time and be patient during cycling. I realize this post may be a little late to you but maybe not.

Be sure to create a member systems page with pictures of your build so we can see how you are doing. If you have questions feel free to pm me. Good luck

I'm in Canton, just north of Atlanta. I have a greenhouse with a ~2000 Gal. system, two DWC growbeds, and 200 Tilapia.

I'm in Savannah,

Last year was so successful with the AP setup I had to redesign for more sunlight. I had too many tomatoes from 1 plant! I have about 600 gal pond with goldfish and tilapia.
