RS, saw your reply under my post in the 'hardware' forum. Also saw the system you're working on...very nice. What part of N. Tx are you in, if you don't mind my asking?

I think that a place called Ponds Across Texas is developing an aquaponics sytem. It is located near Decatur, Texas just about 40 miles NW of Fort Worth. I've seen the location and he has about 3000 Talapia and several 900 gal tanks with several 100 gal growbeds being setup. nothing growing at present, though. Still in construction.

I'm building three backyard systems at the moment.

Mine in Frisco has cycled with goldfish and minnows (although I really want to shift to Tilapia ASAP). The other two are in Dallas and Plano, although they're still under construction and dry at the moment.

Frank's Aquaponics is 1 mile north of Boyd, Texas and is a 40 X 85 foot greenhouse with 9 4 by 8 ft raft type growbeds up and running. There are two 900 gallon tanks stocked with Talipia and several other tanks filled with various ages of talipia. Anyone close to this location needs to take a look. Quite a good looking setup!

I live in the central Texas area. I have an ibc system in a greenhouse, seems to be running well. IF I could leave well enough alone.

Still making progress putting my systems together, and am picking up another IBC tote today. Yesterday I read (from multiple sources) that blue crab can be grown out in fresh water. My wife wants us to try that, so they'll end up being species #3 in addition to tilapia and freshwater prawns once everything is up and running.

Does anyone have any experience with blue crab? (Also, despite being in the DFW area, should I be asking this question in a different thread?)
