I'm about 25km out of Bunbury bio-farmer.

I have set up a flow through system whereby I take cool water from the bottom of my dam and then run it through my tank system with the assistance of gravity. I am hoping that the water will stay cool enough over the summer months so I can get the trout through from fingerling stage. I think that is the main difficulty with trout in a tank system in that you have to keep the temps down to around 25 degrees over the summer.

Hi everyone, I'm Frank.

Been looking around on the net since I meet this bloke when I was up barramundi fishing in the Kimberleys and he started talking about "aquaponics".

Now I haven't rally looked around here yet, but is it all for real?

Seems to be lots of google hits, but I ended up looking around on a place called aquaponicshq, which reckons they're the best in the world or something and there was this bloke who asked what the best way was to catch a fish out of the tank without spooking the rest of the fish.

This is the reply that was given.

"I catch a fish or two when I want one for the BBQ by using a fishing rod , a hook that has the barb filed off and a garden worm or two. My wife always has a good laugh to see me standing back 6 foot from the tank dangling the hapless worm in there. Playing boy games she says !!!!
I have found though that when I just hang a short line over the edge they often don't bite....I think it is because they can see me and quickly work out what I am up to.
Trouble is, with the hook and line method, I usually catch a number of smaller ones before I get the one I am after.
So the fish end up in a high state of spookiness !!!! But I get my man in the end.
If anyone knows a better way I am very willing to learn some new tricks. (Maybe a big net?) "

Are those guys for real? I mean you've got to be kidding me right?

Is this aquaponics stuff a real go, or am I being conned

AP is the real deal! (oh and welcome :) )
As for the other AP site - we cant really comment on them - we have our hands full keeping this site running (just look at the member numbers and you will see why ;) ) so we (well, I) have not spent anything in the way of real time on their ste - I did go look, but you have to join to be able to read their stuff, so I left ... feel free to ask any questions you like here... either on the forum or in a private PM :)

Hi Frank,
If you think your being conned have a good look through all the MODS systems.
Monya, Veggie Boy, Aquamad or Jaymies, or look through anything Earthbound has done.

Welcome by the way.
