Hi beautiful Queenslanders.
I am looking at starting some aquaponic systems, large and small and keen to visit people to have a chat about their systems to get an idea of space needed, any issues, how much can be grown etc I'd love to see what people are doing and how.

If you live about 1 hour or less outside Brisbane CBD and willing to meet with me please contact me.
If you are within 1.5 hours from Brisbane and have an impressive set up, then i'd be willing to go out that far too :-)

Thanks and i hope to hear from you, and meet some impressive people willing to change the world ;-)

Post subject:  Community Aquaponic Garden in Brisbane

Hi All,
Aqua Gardening is hosting a Community Aquaponic Garden in Enoggera, North-West Brisbane. We're not sure if this has been trialed before but we're excited to give it a go.
Everyone is welcome to come and visit on the opening day on Sunday the 31st of August. There will be activities for kids, small aquaponic systems and supplies on offer in a raffle, and coffee and cakes available for a gold coin donation.

As some background, we are adding three "upcycled" IBC grow beds to two of our existing AP systems (one silver perch and one jade perch). The grow beds will be located outside the store on Pickering Street, and available for the community to harvest and maintain. The fish are located inside our AP greenhouse safely away from budding fisherman - not everything can be free!

Hi I am at Murphy's Creek near Toowoomba. Am totally new to aquaponics just made my own dual Ibc system with Jade and Silver perch in separate tanks. Fish been in for a week in a brand new system with no deaths yet. System wasn't filled with new Bactria, so sucking and seeing.

Hi All, Andrew here from Alexandra Hills, Brisbane.
So, just as the clock is about to herald in the new year, I thought I'd drop in and say G'day.
I grew up on a Organic Market Garden and Dairy and in another life I built inground concrete pools for twenty odd years. I'm a tradie, builder and a tinkerer at heart.
I've been following AP for quite a few years now, but just haven't had the time to dip a toe in, although I have been playing around with wicking pots/beds for a while too.
I'm going to dabble a little with building lightweight (insulated) fibre reinforced concrete tanks and beds.
Yes, yes I fully appreciate the care that needs to be taken with the water chemistry. I get that implicitly. However, there is no concern with a glass container is there?
Aaaaah, I hear someone ask.... How do you line concrete with glass? Not fibreglass, gel coat, no, no! Actual glass... Well I do know how to do it and still have an insulated lightweight concrete structure..... Gotta love technology...
Anyway, that's me for now. Hope to get to know you all as we travel along...

Hi all,
I am from Morayfield, north of Brisbane, I have a relatively new system with a 1000 l fish tank (with 30 Jade Perch fingerlings), currently around 200 l of grow beds with scoria medium with ebb and Flow, I have the whole setup run off solar using two 80w panels goohed to a 100 ah battery through a pwm controller. I run the water from the FT into the grow beds by means of a 12v hot water circulating pump, from the grow the grow beds through bell siphons, back to a sump tank which is then pumped back to the FT by means of a 12v "bilge pump.
still playing but happy with the results to date.
