Hi all

New to this forum and very new to forums in general.

I'm in Durban and have been aquaponic-ing for about 12months. Very encouraging to read all the stuff that people are doing.

Not sure of any others in Durbs doing this stuff, but as mentioned, hasn't taken off in SA as it has in Oz

Not Durbs, but not too far either: Mtubatuba (TubaTwice ;-) )

But still in the planning stage.

What i did find out already is that the Leica is ridiculously expensive in SA , so either I will start importing it myself (Importing stuff is what we do for a living anyway) , or I need to find a reasonable priced good alternative.
Haven't coma across that yet though...

Cheers

Ed

Yeah I went through that whole cycle, eventually I designed the system to take the weight of building stone. The 13mm is good to work with when planting, the 22mm is good for flow.
I did one bed with 2 layers. But with time they mix anyway.

Just one thing wash it before you put it in. Can't stress this enough

Hey guys,

I'm in Benoni. Made my first small setup to see how it works and hope to then do it on a bigger scale.

Wish I'd done it before I put it in. Very difficult to get the dirt that comes with it out.

Gideon here from East London, I have a home hydroponic setup running for 3 months already.
Getting ready to start up a medium home sized aquaponic system, but the hold up is understanding the various system components and how they tie together. So much info around the web that it is dificult to understand who to listen to. Anyone in East London at the moment with some words of wisdom before I go and make a expensive mistake?

Good day from East London

I have a small home Hydroponic setup which I have been running for 3 months now.
Now I am putting together a medium size home size planter which will be a aquaponic setup.
My concern is the placement of the various system components. I have read online but there is so many opinions out there. Is there anyone in East London who could assist by giving me a walk through. I am concerned about making a very expensive mistake.

thanks

Gideon
