Hey I forgot one thing in the whole tank issue..

I have to redesign the system..
"The Tank" has to go in a new Location But I'm hoping that I don't have to change to much of the rest of the system..

Wow... your dad must have some amazing stories, most of which I'd imagine are not of the good kind.

Have you been back to germany?

Not yet, But I am sort of Planing to go next year if the money is There..

Some of the stories he had very funny..
Like fishing with explosives.. The area he lived in was not to far from a WWII ammo bunker..

So yes Charlie some of the stories were very interesting..

An update....

As I said the tank I picked out was a bust..

Well I have searched the net and found a round tank I can work with..
the biggest problem was that I had started prep work to have the tank close to the garage, but that was cancelled.. so different tank so new location.. dirt to be moved..

and stuff to be fixed..
Image

what I was aiming for Original tank..
I had removed about 6 cubic metre of soil here and I was aiming to remove another 2-3 cubic metres..

Well new tank new Location and I needed some thing to do in the spot behind the garage.. So for the last few days I have been busy..

Image

Well that location had received a bit of Soil..
- The Blue Barrel you see is the waste water sump..

The soil I dropped into the area was the soil removed from hole where I'm planning to drop the new Tank.. Drainage has been placed to help keep the garage from flooding..

Image
The hole for the tank.. It still needs to be cleaned up and a pad of crushed rock/sand/cement[Not a concrete] needs to be placed there..

And the final AP related photo..
the Grow beds waiting for them to be placed in there location..

Image

All 850lts of grow bed.. so there is about 2500lt of Grow bed..

I'm thinking that I will place all the grow beds down the line of concrete posts and drain all to the sumps that are along the garage walls..

Sorry no drawings.. I'll have to sit down and see what I can do to show What I mean..

- - - - - - - - -

Some Basics of what I'm planing..

- I will be using a pump in the sump to pump water to the FT which will cause the SLO to move water towards the Grow beds..
- I will be using a Filter to help with the fish load Till More Grow beds can be placed..
- I will have a system in place to cover the lose of Electricity.. Also I shall have a system in place to make sure I have Water ready to top up the Fish tank in any emergency..

Any Comments... Please give me feed back..

Wow!!!

What the heck are those GB's originally Snow? I want some...

All lookin good from what I can see mate, may need some heavy re-enforcment for those GB's if you are using gravel other than hydroton (big weight difference).

How many fish are you planning to stock? I wouldnt bother with a biofilter unless you are planning to stock beyond your limits and even then I wouldnt encourage that with a virgin system. Stock low and take it slow my friend.

p.s. you must have plenty of blisters..

Grow Bed dimensions..

2.4m long
1.1m Wide
.5m high+

So it is pretty good Size wise..

I'm probably going to run a full set of 3/4 Blue Barrels Down the edge of the Garage..
- Not sure yet.. I just need to work out what I have in the way of Room...

Have not seen them for a week or so.. I drop in the food but they don't come to the top..
I'm going to look at getting some worms for them..

they have been getting the crumble I got from Glenwater..

Juergen..

Psst the Grow-beds will be sitting on top of 200x75mm up-rights and 50x200mm cross-beams 2 per uprights..

A Late morning/lunch update..

Water tank arrived and was off loaded off the trailer..

now the fun Begins..

i tried manoeuvring the tank around the Dirt Bed's No Go.. Too wide Too tall..

Oh well on to Plan Z..

Roll the tank down the Road.. NO I DID NOT GET ANY photo's but must ask the neighbours if they did..
Roll the tank to the Back lane way and start to Push the tank down the OVERGROWN mess that our councils call The Back Access-way..

As I said Overgrown, Fallen Fences, Fallen Tree's.. Trees Full stop..Last tree nearly brought me to tears.. I just eased the tank thru by the width of a Bee's D#$K..

The tank is sitting behind the neighbours house at the moment.. I need to shift those Grow-beds and some wood[to burn] and then I can roll it up to near it final Place..

Then the fun Begins..
-- Rounding out the hole..
-- filling with a base..
-- Cutting a hole in the Roof so I can make the SLO and some other stuff..

Juergen..

Ok Stone has been ordered for the base of the tank to sit on..

I also got some extra stuff to remake the Sand and gravel filter for my Small pond system.. It seem to have a bit of a Blockage so I need to pull it apart and give it a good clean out and maybe redo all the plumbing..

I priced Some media for the GB's at $70 per cubic metre.. Seems Like a great price.. I'm planing on doing a mix of gravel and hydroton..

I'll grab some photo of the works so far and give you a photo update later today/night..

As promised My Photo update..

Image
My pump arrived today.. an 8000lt and a 6000lt..
I'm planing on using the 8000lt for my system..
The 6000lt is my Backup pump..
I won't show you the plumbing I have in stock.. I have some But I know I'm buying out the shop Tomorrow in Preparation for Saturday when I hope to start to get the Plumbing started..

Image
The dreaded Lane-way at my end.. just beyond the hanging branches is a downed tree....

Image
A Pic of the tank I'm using to precondition the top-up water..

Image
My Fish tank..all 6000lt of it..
So does this make my system a Large system..?

Image
The open tank on the left is going to be my Duckweed/Daphne tank..
The Right hand Gap shall have my Top-up tank..
In-front of the sump so you want see the sump[from this angle] will be my Fry/Baby tank..

On a side note here are a few Pic's from my other system's..
First is of my Murray Cod Tank..

Image
This is my method of getting Air into the water..[Other than the Air-stone I have hanging in the system..
Image
You should be able to see the air bubble here..
If you can spot a Murray Cod you are doing better than me..

Image
My Micro system.. Still fish-less and still firing.. Have had a few meals from the Rainbow chard.. Yumm..
I'm afraid to say that the spinach has gone to seed..
The Little plant's in front near the pipe is Pineapple sage which I'm growing from cutting to be placed in the front yard..They are firing on all cylinders..

Hope you have enjoyed my Photo update..

I'll Post more Pic's over the weekend as the more of the fit-out happens..

Juergen..
