Looks exellant guys!

Gee, I know who to call when I need some digging next time :thumbright:

2 questions unrelated to AP.

1. Do you own a pirate ship?
2. As you are living in SanDiego, is it possible that you are the real Ron Burgandy?

:D

A pirate wouldnt wear stubbies 4x!

they are much too proud and besides they need to hide the sea scurvy on their sea legs

You made a good point on why he is a good digger thou, its from all those years of digging for treasure.

arrrrrrrg

Drats, foiled again! I personally don't own a pirate ship, but have friends who do. The real Ron Burgandy drinks Scotch, while I personally prefer Rum. As for the digging skills having to do with buried treasure, you may have a point...

Btw the slacks are quite worn out. When you have worked at the same place with the same uniform for 12 years, you end up with a lot of worn out khakis.

I had to look up stubbies and pluggers, in American that would be Coochie Cutters or Daisy Dukes, and Flip Flops. I own a couple pairs of flip flops, but I rarely wear them. I used to run track, and those were pretty short shorts, but I rarely wear shorts, and when I do, they are usually knee length or so.

Hi Ron, what kind of fittings are you using on the barrels, regular white fittings, gray electrical conduit fittings, bulkhead fittings? If white ones try the gray electrical ones, they are not tapered and you can tighten them completely even with thin walled containers. HTH

Just enough to show off the grain in that peg leg?

I used uniseals. The leak did not come from them, they worked perfectly. The leaks came from the bungs. I thought I had tightened them enough, but I was wrong. The problem was easly solved with toilet ring wax.

Haha. We live in an estate built on an old brick pit. When it's dry the to 100mm of soil is rock solid. I figured out the best way to dig holes quickly is to use your spade to cut straight down into the clay as far as you can and cut a grid of cubes when looking from above. Then lever the blocks/cubes out one at a time and discard/carry them by hand.

Hehe these blocks are basically massive bricks waiting to be fired.

I used presure pipe valve fittings in my barrels with a bit of silicon for good measure (see my thread). I'm not sure why people have trouble with the "tapered fittings". I was told the presure pipes were the tapered ones, but they worked just fine for me... Maybe my barrel walls were thick than the norm? Or maybe I cut my holes a little smaller and relied on elbow grease to force it tight...who knows?
