Well, I was going to build a green house, at the same time I was grinding the old swimming pool paint to repaint it and getting it ready. Oh well, I decided now that kids are all gone, we can convert the indoor pool into a green house and get this Aquaponics a good try. So, I stop the grinding work and started the build.

Here is my FT jig for sides:

Hi Zubin, looking forward to watching this! Me and the father-in-law talk about doing this all the time!

Are you planning on providing support through the middle (top) of the tank. Have seen a few guys have problems with wood bowing out over time.

Is the pool the same level all the way through?

Not being Picky but have you not forgotten a step.. The Ply Board Before you all the insulation..

I was under the impression that you do the Ply Layer then the insulation Layer.. As this method is more structurally sound..
I maybe wrong.. But I just hate to see a great build Fail due to water wanting to spread out..

Water one of natures greatest/most powerful force's..

the pool is the same depth all over. The wood is 2 inch X 6 inch. The cross bean is not needed. All the weight is tward the bottom. I do not know if you guys have above ground swimming pools there or not, but here, it is just a piece of soft plastic supported by PVC pipe.

SnowT
No, the play wood goes to the inside. The the screws fasten the playwood and the insulation to the sides. Then a piece of 20ft by 20ft EPDM goes inside of it. I should receive the EPDM in two weeks. I have placed my order for it. It is ground shipped because it is very heavy.

The plan is to have the grow beds all around the windows.
This rough diagram shows the side wiew of my plan:

This diagram shows a little more of my plan.

And this one shows the top view of my plan.

What fish are you going to Grow..

Just asking as you have a fair bit of space you could use for a few smaller tanks under the deck area..
- For filtration hook it into the current tank system so the fish have the same source water..
- A QT tank to have new fish isolated.. Will need a regular filter system to keep them isolated from the general population.. With what they call a cannery fish or 2 in..

Yes SnowT, that is one plan, I have few plans for all the space.
I have done a lot of research about what type of fish. And have tasted many. Our favorite eating fish is Saltwater fish. Me and my son used to go to a place that is called Big Rock about 50 miles from our North Carolina shore lines for catching Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi (also called Dolphine fish). And I have not made it there again after my son went to Germany. Boat is collecting bird crap now!
Anyway, I do not have any salt water fish choices here for the FT.
After all the research, the best not only for eating taste, but also protein content is Tilapia. So, I am going to start with White Brook Niles version first and then maybe add some of the blue ones. I have tasted few types of them, and it is good eating.
And yes I do need bio filter in addition to grew beds.

Too late for redesigns now though. If it wasn't you could use the pool for fish water a couple feet deep and have the walkways on top, maybe on concrete piers or something.

Some day I will try hanging liner in between deck joists like those your decking plans, to use as lined beds rather than making wooden ones beds on top. That would be low profile compared to making a deck then putting beds on top, and would use less material.

Do you have a glass roof for your pool room for lighting then I suppose?

I thought about that plan, but according to what I have read, even if I was going to put 2 feet of water there, would have been too much, 5600 gallons; the pool is 14 by 27.
This little FT is going to hold 1500 gallons, but I will fill it only 3.5 feet, which will be about 1300 gallons.
The roof had 6 4X6 glass skylights, but they were giving me so much trouble that I had to take them out. All around the pool is glass and lots of sun coming in from morning till late afternoons.

Possibly I need to get as much wood that I have already got to finish the project.
I need the following for the support.
1. 22 each 2X6X8
2. 8 each 2X6X10
3. 10 1/2 icnh play wood (4X8) for grew beds
4. 5 3/4 inch play wood (4X8) to make the walk ways next to grew beds

God willing; my plan is to finish this by mid April.

Just got a call from EPDM supplier. My 20X20 EPDM is here, I will pick it up in my way home tonight. One heavy piece for the Fish Tank. Will try to finish the fish tank this weekend.
