Haven't tried filleting my SP's yet. Why are they hard, is it just they they are smaller than RT's?

It's been a while but I've finally put together one of my systems at our new place. I have been holding off as I wanted to build a hoop house/ shade house to put my systems in but I'm still undecided on what I want to build. We miss having fresh veg and fish at hand so decided to put together one of the systems to test how it goes out in the open.

Haven't got any fish yet. Might just run with Charlie carp until trout season. Image

I forgot to mention that I picked up a new fish tank cover from Cheidys on the weekend. Thanks Sue :-). I'll probably have to cover it with shade cloth as the tank is in full sun

You're not wrong Dr Bee. We've had over 100mm over the past few days. Its unbelievable. Most of the rain came in a few hours on Monday night

Hi Bender good to see you have set up I like the way you have coupled the system together, are you using the same pump as before? And if so was it hard to connect PVC to pump?

G'day Rod, I am using the same resun 3000L pump as was used before. It was the standard pump with a BYAP courtyard system. Just need to buy a few different fittings to hook up the pvc. Let me know if you need more details and I'll take some pics for you.

I haven't had any issues with the resun pumps in 3 years of running. It also sat idle in the shed for over a year when we moved house so very impressed with them.

About a month and a half and the plants are powering along. Really stoked to have fresh greens readily available again. Have been adding a cap of Charlie carp once a week and that's it. Nitrates are 160+ and I think this is from the fish poo in the media that was from over a year ago. Plan on ordering some trout from troutman soon.

Update time. About a month ago I picked up 40 rainbow trout from troutman. They survived the hour and a half drive home and are thriving now the water temp has cooled off. Plants are going steady.

I planted this French tarragon from my dirt garden into a growbed. It was nearly dead following a hot summer. Within a few months it has thrived in aquaponics and is now in full bloom
ImageImageImage there are fish in there somewhere ;-)
