Perhaps in the future water will more valuable than oil and water instead will be pumped from wet locations to dry ones.

I think South Africa may be just slightly more temperate than where I am here (as in maybe a little more chill hours in winter) but probably just as miserable in summer. But that is based only on my reading some aquaponic threads of people in South Africa and I really know not WHERE they were in South Africa.

Hi TC, Durban is the exception in South Africa with winter going down to about 14deg C minimum with a max of about 26deg C. Most other places in the country get colder but nothing like Candian style winters. Durban is warm enough that the country's premier surfing competition is held in the middle of winter - July. :dontknow:

Dang, you guys are more tropical than we are (I'm in inland central FL.)
Winter we can definitely get down below freezing though that usually only happens overnight and normally only one or two times per winter. Over on the coasts it is normally more mild but freezes still happen unless you are in South Florida. Summer heat can be mitigated a little because of the water but that simply means yea maybe not quite as HOT as in the desert but it just feels worse because sweating doesn't help cool you off and you simply feel soggy (same goes for the plants I guess.)
Swamp coolers don't work in a swamp :naughty: I've been in a greenhouse in the high desert before and standing in the air flow by the evaporative cooling pads, it was actually a little chilly?!?!?! In FL you need actual AC to feel that! (I worked in some outdoor theatres that put in huge swamp coolers, only allowed because they were "temporary" and it was sort of effective the first season because of a severe drought that year Florida had all the wild fires but really they were about as effective as good fans.)

Keep your eyes off my Great Lakes! They're already pumping enough of our water out for bottled water...

I hope you actually meant 29 inches " instead of 29 feet '
Though there are some places who have been having severe flooding this year I still don't think they got 29 feet of rain in one month. There are plenty of places that would flood if they just got 20 inches of rain over a few week period.

Who got the 29 inches of rain? I have no idea what our rain totals are actually. I know it has been a wetter year this year that many we have had but my location tends to stay relatively dry compared to the surrounding areas.

TC I think he was responding to my comment above about my dad in Lakeland saying they had 29 inches of rain in July...

Yes indeed, I did mean 29 inches. We don't use imperial measurements here any more (since 1976) so I am excusing myself for using wrong notation chuckle chuckle.
Yes Rininger85, I was referring to your dad in Lakeland (and I can see how come Lakeland gets it's name LOL).
