I guess I was lamenting my poor 'temporary' fish tank stand crash n burn...

I built a platform to get it off of the ground. I did NOT have any vertical support, it sure looked pretty but boy did it crash after adding about 400 gals of water.
Good news, no damage to tank and 12 tilapia all good!!

These are the plants I have ready to transplant into some 30 gal drums cut in half...one day.
Male and female kiwi (fruit) are on the bottom, the fig tree and on top is the dragon fruit. I will give updated pics tonight...

I have my temporary system up and cycling since last sunday, the 13th. Pumping 15 minutes off 60. Chift Pist...2 half barrel grow beds with lava rock, 550 gal fish tank as a sump, a fore-mentioned 500 gal fish tank.

My next project is to repair my salvaged 1500 gal tank.
It has been in the sun for quite a while, brittle, a few holes but I think it is salvageable.

I am putting a fish window where someone had placed their foot...

I had used a plastic welder...AMAZING TOOL...but...not for round items, or ones with stress on them i.e. round tanks... my $.02

so I used fiberglass...Will have pics tomorrow...what should I use on the interior to seal the resin? or do I need to???

Here is my current system design...
Attachment:
system.png
system.png [ 91.91 KiB | Viewed 2655 times ]

24x24 greenhouse. Essentially to scale. Dark blue is current, light blue is planned.
I want to add some 1/2 33 gal plastic drums for banana trees, fruit trees etc...exotics.
Gravel filled.

I am currently running CHIFT PIST and plan on continuing. I have a 3500 gal/hr pond pump for the big tank. Currently running a utility pump, no idea of capacity, 15 min on 60 off.
Plan on pumping from sump tank vertically to top of gh, "T" off with 1/2 going to DWC/NFT and the other half going to fish tank(s). Gravity through grow beds, blue barrels etc...back to sump...need help with design, plumbing etc...
Would the DWC be enough sump?

So many decisions...

Brian

Closer to cycling???

I am feeding heavier, now there is ammonia showing, in addition to nitrates.
Plant growth has accelerated but still not the dramatic growth I have been anticipating...
I know...I know...patience, patience

I went out of town last friday and came back last night. In preparation I placed a dozen or so water hycynth and a few handfuls of duckweed. Came home to nice growth, healthy fish...still a few hycynth left but they sure went after the pellets.

How did the tank repairs hold up?

Bottom repair is perfect. Holding water and growing tad poles...lovely sounds at night!!

I need to save up the $ for more resin to complete the repairs, I have plenty of fiberglass cloth. ...things are tight paying for 2 households... :blackeye:

I was excited I had not seen any insect pests since I began until I returned home Sunday after being away for only a day and a half!!!

Green Horned Caterpillars or w/e their name is can DESTROY a tomato plant in a day!!!

I never thought I would be so pi**ed off at a bug!!! But messing with my hard work, toil, sweat, blood and yes...tears...I ENJOYED taking my revenge on 4 of them...
2 found the first day and 2 the second day!!!
My Tilapia are too small to eat them so they were unceremoniously squished!!

Oh well...I have another cuke almost ready, my romaine lettuce are starting to bloom, I sprinkled more lettuce seeds...crazy thing...NONE of my chard has come up so I threw in about a dozen seeds...hopefully they will sprout this time.
