This is the start of a new thread for me.

The system is a fish tank to continuos flooded grow bed to NFT and return to fish tank.

Now if I can remember how to resize photos and put them in this thread. Photos to follow.

Starting to see some lettuce sprouting. Looks like I'll need a lamp to get them to grow straight.

Can anyone recommend a spacing for strawberry plants in the NFT tubes?

Bob, are you trying to grow money in that first pic? Let me know how that goes? I believe a good spacing for starwberries in the nft is about 14"/18". Is that cornmeal for the worms?

iammr.bill and kevyrev.

About the cornmeal, yes it is for the 2 dozen worms in there. I read some place that worms will consume their own weight every day. So now I'm averaging about 2 heavy pinches of CM each day and watching my ammo, ites, and ates. Right now I only have 2 comet goldfish in the 10 gallon aquarium. I'm going slow on the fish population.

Any guesses on how many Comets I can put in 10 gallons and 18 gallons of rock? The system is only a couple of weeks old.

Current readings are;
ammo between 0 and .25
ites 0
ates 0

The coins? How did you guess? I believe in miracles don't you?

Actually I'm using the coins to show the size of the "Pond Pebbles" from Home Depot.

Well, my strawberry plants finally arrived. So I bought some 8 oz. Styrofoam coffee cups and I am ready to cut holes in my 4 inch PVC pipe.

I've got a pretty good flow of water going thru it. I'm guessing about only 1/2 inch deep.

But now how much of the roots should be in the water? Roots are about 6 inches right now.

After the holes are cut, it will be a pain to make them bigger.

Need some advice ASAP.

Hmm, I wonder what their reproduction rate is ? How do you feed them?

Well I moved all the the remodeled kitchen stuff outside yesterday. This morning I found that the wind had pulled one of the strawberry plants out of the NFT tube. Probably because the plant was just sitting in it's pot with out any of the usual pebbles that people use. :blackeye:

So it's off to the store.

I'm making up a 50 gal. (US) fish tank with a 24 inch standpipe so I can have a constant height fish tank. My stand pipe is one inch diameter.

My question is:

How long should I make the outside pipe so that it drains by gravity?

Is it possible to move my thread called "use of vinegar" and make it part of this thread?

Bob

I can merge them together Bob but it might be more useful to others to keep it as a seperate topic. Is there something particular you want from that thread?

@Charlie

At first, I thought it might helpful to have everything in one place but I'll go with your advice.

I'll just copy and paste select portions of the vinegar thread.

Thanks for the insight Charlie
