Bear, I would thro a good handfull of brickies lime (or Dolomite) into the sump and that will bring the PH up to about 7.

I have shell grit under one of the GB inlets mate sitting around 6.8/7 according to the boss this morning. She will be home again on the weekend so will get a couple first hand reports then. Cheers

Edit just have to run the dedicated power out from the shed and then wait for the fish, may even participate in a Ale or two if you care to join me sometime.

Upnorth Thanks Andrew still have to put 3/4 more grow beds in but that will be after Christmas. Still have to purchase another two IBCs for the job.

Chainsaw Added a handfull of dolamite late yesterday, will see what happens. Water in the tank is very clear so no problems there.

Not much happening, built a screen for the cucumbers to climb up and just waiting for every thing to settle out. Gave Blind Freddie a hand yesterday and that we hope was a success.

Received a call from SE Qld hatcheries and they now have Jade Perch avaiable. Fish in next week with any luck  vegetables growing well for such a short time. Cheers

Had a bit to much dolomite in the sump and was trying to work out how to clean it out, blind freddie came around to give me a hand to put the dedicated power line in. He just said why not open the valve on the IBC and we will sweep it out on low tide. Some times you need a kick in the A because I had forgotten about the valve since I fullly lined my sump.

As I can not kneel he cut the tin out around the valve and in a short time the sump was clean, pump back in and water added before the cycle kicked in. So a good afternoon with the dedicated power line in, sump cleaned and a few cold bears dead all with in a short time.

Ready for fingerlings Friday

Would have been OK to leave the sedament and over period of time would have broken down, seeing the PH was only about 7.7 which would gradually decrease as you add fish and start feeding. But at least you now have a working drain.

Not many sleeps now Bear, you'l be hearing the pitter patter of little fins before you know it. :funny1:

Then you really will need a bar fridge and comfortable chair down near your system so you can keep an eye on the little ones.

I wonder how long it will take before you start talking to them

Dont wory mate, I'm sure we all do it at some stage. :support:
