That sounds like a great idea mate, I might have a go at it with my top up water storage. I could hang a couple of lenghts of 90mm DW along our side fence (Full sun) just do the top ups in the afternoons when its at its warmest.

I reckon ive got all the bits I need, even scored 1/2 a can of black paint the other day for nics. I was also thinking of painting all external plumbing pipes black , And just put a bit of foil or pipe lagging around them in summer.

Started adding seasol last week to both systems, with the weather starting to cool off the and the jades slowing down. some of my greens last week looked a little pale and low in nutriants.

The day I took the pics below (a week ago) I added seasol and things already look slightly better. I'll post updated picks in a couple of weeks. I plan to add a cup per week to each system until the weather warms up again.

Ive also just picked up 8 sheets of fibre cement (freebies of course) to line the sides of the GB's. :thumbright: I'll insulate the sides of the GB's while I'm doing it.

I have handed over control of the painting and colour choices to the other half.
I am a little worried
she likes bright colours
Really bright colours. :)

Great systems BF. When you mentioned the fridge to store the backup system my first thought was: "What a dumb idea." Apologies to Bear! But when I saw it I thought: "What a bloody great idea!" Looks far better than I thought it would.

Hi Martin, another benifit to using the old frezzer is that it keeps the heat in pretty well, my air pump is on one of the upper shelves so the air that gets pumped in through the system is actualy nice and warm.

Were just moving into winter here so the warm air bubbles are helping to keep my temps up. I run 3 x 3 inch air stones in each FT. and 1 x 3 inch in each sump, Theres about 70 litres of warm air per minute bubling through my tanks.

I have just insulated the main air lines outside of the tanks to keep the heat in the air until it hits the water.

Nice thinking behind your implementation. I enjoy seeing the pics of the yard and aquaponics area. Very cool.

Regards, Martin.

time for a quick update

I managed to line 1/2 of my grow beds over the last couple of weeks.

I was lucky enough to pick up a few sheets of fibre cement real cheap a couple of weeks ago, and was given a tin of paint

I have lined one side with no openings and left storage openings in the other side, sorry the pic's aren't real clear, it was getting late when I took them.

Tomorrows a write off but should be home on Sunday. Would mind picking your brains on RF filter options, I have picked up a pool sand filter body I think will make a good RF system.

Hey there, your system is beautiful.
Would putting some form of plastic sheeting over the poly pipe (air right) create a mini greenhouse effect and heat up the pipe even more?
