Steve and Bear, would join you but Judy is being treated for low BP and has an outpatient appointment in 2 weeks time. What a diappointment I have to spend another 2 weeks in this rotton Townsville weather of 28 deg.

Yes I agree jayendra,

I'm keeping an eye out for a couple of sheets of clear rigid plastic / alsenite type stuff at the right price $0.00. in the mean time though a layer of clear plastic would help keep the wind of the coils.

I actually just added another, larger coil 50M of 25mm Poly to system (1) today. Its on the chook pen roof. I am using a 40 watt 4000l P/hour pond pump to push the water through the coil. I haven't tested the actual volume being moved yet at that head height but would guess about well in excess of 1000l / hour. I'll test it tomorrow with a 5l bucket.

This afternoon the temp in that system got up to 24.9C :thumbright: My nice plate sized jades were cleaning up pellets pretty quickly last thing this arvo.

The temp in system (2) got to 22.3 with its small polly coil running all day (no pump added for the smaller coils) I just split the flow of my main pumps, both running the same pumps "40 watt 4000l P/hour Reef pond pump"

Nice pics BF.

Those poly coils look great. Let us know the temp difference when you add the cover. Would be interesting to know how big a difference it makes.

Well I do hope Judys feeling OK,

I could handle a couple of weeks in Townsville myself throwing lures around some of those local creeks. And checking out the backpacker traffic along the waterfront :-P

A quick update on the coils as we move into spring

The coils of the smaller tube (13mm) clog up every 3-4 of weeks now that the temps have increased and the systems are processing more solids. I occasionally disconnect the pipe ends and use the garden hose to clean the pipe out. its quite surprising how much poo actually comes out.

The larger pipe coil (20mm) doesn't seem to clog up to much at all, the water flow through this one is a lot quicker not allowing to much to settle out in the pipe.

Even though some maintenance is required they are a great low cost way to heat the system water up.

Added a radial flow Filter to system # 2 a couple of weeks ago. Made out of an old swimming pool sand filter body, a couple of Uni-seals and some cheap recycled 50mm DW pipe. Works a treat providing a good supply of poo for the wicking beds.

Also built a digester to take the solid wastes and aerate the crap out of it ready for use on our fruit and veg systems.

File comment: looking inside the digester the air lift doing a great job of circulating and aerating the poo water

external view of the digester / poo storage system.

runs on an airlift only, no pump used. fortunately the Resun LP60 air pump has enough spare capacity to run yet another air stone.

I'm hoping to get another one on it soon and duplicate both new additions onto system #1 before summer gets here.

Thanks Martin. looks neater in the pics than real life perhaps. But it seems to work very well, I am amazed at how much poo that system produces each week. Every drop gets used on our food plants and fruit trees.

Cant wait to add the same to the other system.

Cool BF. Nice to see so much re-use of the nutrients, very impressive.

Regards, Martin.

Looking good mate, you are putting some effort in to the place. Amazing what can happen when you have a good woman who wheels the wipe. Cheers

That's prob. spot on mate. :funny1:

There's always a million things to do around here, most of which keep me away from playing with the AP systems.
So most days I'm out there busting my *ss trying to knock other jobs over just to make time for playing with the AP. Think I might be due for a sicky or two.
