OK, so its about time that I start getting my system together. Over the past couple of weeks I have been getting things ready but as of last week I finally started to purchase everything. Spent the whole afternoon building the GBs and I hope to have most everything up and running by next week.

This system will be a 1FT (275gal IBC tote) 2 DWC GB (4ft x 8ft x 9in) I will be using a swirl filter and a bio-filter (I will also have a bio digester for the soild waste) Thats about all I got check out the pictures below.

Ok so I know mos of you will probably get a kick out of this but this is my IBC tote, got it for $60. What is crazy is how much bigger it is than I thought. You see pictures online and then you actually get one and its like a foot shorter then me and I am 6ft tall.

Yeah I have been waiting for it to warm up but that doesn't seem to want to happen so I have just been drinking to keep warm :)

Hola CityRoots,

I'd love to hear more about your plans for the bio digester.

I assume you're planning on an aerobic rather than anaerobic digester? Are you going to pipe the digester into your system so that you can re-introduce the solids after they've had time to further dissolve? If yes, how do you plan on working this in with your other filters? I haven't seen many people taking advantage of digesters so your thoughts on this would be really helpful!

Thanks.

Cb what I am planning on doing is an aerobic digester and I will use it as a type of compost tea I will spray the base of the plants to reintroduce the nutrients

Btw Charlie yes I stole your design totally give you credit :notworthy:

Hmmmm....

Didn't want to be bothered with opening a couple valves once or twice a week to collect and then reintroduce the solids?

Your spray idea seems easy enough though.

Are you going to just use a heavily aerated empty drum of some sort or do you plan on putting any media in it?

At first I will probably just dump into an empty barrel that will have an air stone. Later on I want a worm farm and I will have them do the work :)

And as a married man with two kids anytime I can spend being "bothered" to do something is alright by me.

Rupert I can never tell if you are being sarcastic or not.... but I am pretty sure got the idea from here in one of the many conversations about soild filters. Now of course I have tried to find the thread but can't but someone on here I think is already doing it. Now it won't be just straight AP sludge but I will add it to the vermicompost.

Thanks Dave!!

Haha

I'm with you CityRoots... I'm still trying to decipher the presence or lack-thereof of sarcasm in good ol' Rupert's comment.

:wave1:

Either way... I like it, let me know how it goes!
