I think it's all BS, at least the part about trying to tax us for it. Last summer sure didn't feel like "colder" to me, and I suppose that about 3 months from now I'll be wishing it was more like today has been. I'm blaming it all on CRF and his susceptibility to the AP bug - he should have had the proper vacinations :D

Ok so I got the plumbing supplies today which felt really good, until a friend of mine came over and we talked about it and thought of maybe a different way to plumb it so now... I might have to rethink this.

In other news he also tested my tap water and all I can say is HOLY CRAP!!! :sad2: PH 9.4 and 348 PPM thats all we tested today because I will be honest I want to still drink my water and not think about it... :shifty:

Ok questions for those AP gods following my posts. What would be the min size sump I could use in my system. it is a 450gph pump that will be in it (i am thinking I will add a float switch. But is 20ish gals too small. Also would it be better to have the sump at the end of the line and pump 25ft back to the tank. Or have a gravity flow to the sump 25ft away and then its like 5 ft to the fish tank? Let me know your thoughts.

P.S. Holy crap bulk heads are expensive...

I do not recall if you were running any beds flood and drain. If so, I like to have the entire volume of the flood and drain beds available in the sump. Otherwise, you really do not need much for a sump.

Than a sump is completely optional, and can be as small as the pump inside it will allow. You can also just have your pump in your last DWC trough.

The sump would be for evaporation if you're using CF, depending on the weather and volumes and agitation the evaporation from day to day could make you have to top up the sump very often. A larger sump would mean you don't have to top up as often. Have you looked into Uniseals instead of bulkhead fittings? Uniseals are pretty cheap - I got all I needed from TCLynx for like $15.

Ok so I got some work done the other day and still have a bit to go, but this is the SLO into a RFF into a biofilter. DD yeah I also have an off brand of uniseals that I got here in town at a Hydroshop. But I needed a bulk head for the bottom of my grow bed. I got 5 grommets for $12 and I got 1 bulk head for $17.

ok so this is the biofilter and then out to the grow beds. I didn't like how high up the bar was from the grow bed so I added a 45 degree bar to it to get it a bit closer to the GB. I have tested to make sure it all flows well and it does. It is more about if I can get the SLO to work. :) On my list of to do's today I am going to try and line the beds before work we will see what I can get done, I am also feeling a bit lazy today too... :dontknow:

So I finally got the beds lined and the system is RUNNING  I will say there were some hiccups the Bulkhead fitting had become loose, didn't know it till I had started to fill the last GB. had to PVC cement some leaking pipes, did it out of order on the bottom plumbing and had to cut it out and re put back together. $5 mess up but it really pissed me off... Tested the water I need to get my PH down, I am off the charts so I will be working on doing that. There is a bit of ammonia in the system I think it is just our good ole Omaha water because I have not added any yet. Zero Nitrites/nitrates which is to be expected :) Some pictures below and I will also post a video up just as soon as You Tube stops being dumb.
