Do you need me to bring some of my hydro PH down? It is fish and food plant safe.. It will help us get the PH down to a level the bacteria would prefer...

Ironically I just watched this video on ammonia and ammonium and while I am cycling high ph is not a bad thing, so I think I will run with it and hope it goes down naturally. Heres a vid link so you can watch it

Perhaps if the pipe putting the water into the sump was above the water level, it would not gurgle. Hydrochloric acid appears to be the agent of choice to bring ph down. Apparently as it breaks down, it is actually good for fish. It supposedly helps their slime coat, or something to that effect.

Thanks for the video.
Have you got some instructions for the radial and bio filters?
I am also trying to reduce noise.
Yours doesn't have a guard around the stand pipe? - this significantly reduces noise with a pipe cap on it.

His system is in the garage... he is complaining like it is next to his bed... He needs to come over and hear the torrential downpour that happens when my siphons trigger... Anywhere else but outside and I would have a problem with it haha

The siphon noise isn't bad on his system though. It is that farting gurgling bubbles that pops out of his sump inlet tube that really would piss me off the most. I think he will just have to drain some water out of the system until the water level drops below that inlet pipe. He definitely has room to play with when it comes to the water levels.

yeah I can post up a video of how I did mine later but I used the earthan groups style

Yeah I found that out las night but I will have to add more water to the system or cut my stand pipe by a 1/4in to account for it.

yeah the only problem with that is the sump level is too low for my comfort....

Not sure about your gurgle but the sound going down the pipes, do your pipes drop into a sump or straight down into an elbow and back to fish tank?

I cable tied a piece of agi pipe onto my stand pipe under the growbed and angled it slightly. Amazing the difference in sound.

Jay its a straight drop to an elbow then runs 20ft to the sump tank and that's where the gurgle is happening.

Nice video!

I didn't see how the sump pipe comes in, but putting in tees (with a short pipe aimed up to let air in) can help long drains not start to siphon which can cause big bubbles to form like that.

Instead of straight down then over 20 ft you might try going over closer to the bottom of the beds, then down at the last minute to the sump inlet. A tee where it goes down with a vertical pipe higher than the water level can maybe get rid of the burps.

I was thinking that raising the pipe was the better option than lowering the water level.

Yeah the pipe is as high as it goes it is attached to the bottom of the GB but I like the idea of a tee on the end of the pipe it would make les noise at least

You could make everyone you know eat yogurt for a while... the cups of good quality food are a little more than the crap yogurts... but the cups are salvageable for temp pots.

Once the raft is over the standpipe it will be a bit quieter. Another option is to put another standpipe on that return line back to the sump which will act like a vent.

ie the red vent pipe in this image.
