I found a better use for the "Pond Sucker" by taping it to a pole I can use it to transfer fish solids directly from the RFF into the mineralisation tank.

Pretty nice gizmo - can't seem to find them in the US (lots of pool vacs though). If you look for an extension wand for watering hanging baskets you might be able to do away with the extra piece - won't make it work any better though.

I see it has been discontinued or is no longer in stock, it appears to have been replaced with a newer model here in OZ, maybe it's the same story in the US? :dontknow:

There appears to be 2 different types of Pond Sucker's, if you read on the bottom left of the box it says that it cleans & does a water change at the same time! The unit in the video does not add any water, it only sucks. :think:

Perhaps you can reverse engineer it and use the 3D printer to create Joblow's AP Sucker :laughing3:

I imagine it is similar to the aerator thingy you made.

I've upgraded the airlift on my SLO and have now taken the air lines externally to keep the fish solids off them, and also stop any restriction on the water flow. The fish solids sticking to the air lines was not helping in removing all the solids from the tank so it needed to be modified.

Having the 2 air stones sit just in under the SLO outlet and not having anything at all up in the main water flow should improve things.

I'll trial it as it is and see how it performs, I may even remove the 2 air stones and see if larger bubbles lift the solids any better than the finer bubbles. :dontknow:

It's been pretty warm here lately and I have just added the 'piece de resistance' to my system to take the rough edges off those hot days.

I've found it very handy to slip up to the pergola and have a little tipple if things are too hot down at the system.

It was on special at $329 AUD so it was time to snap one up. LOL :laughing3:

The 50 litre Keg at $300 is nearly as much as the Kegerator, but it should last quite a while and it works out a lot cheaper than cans.

It's definitely a better beer than drinking from a can Scotty, I've got a nice cold pint glass in the fridge that I fill up and then start hosing the garden, depending on how hot the day is, I call it a 1 pint, 2 pint or 3 pint day. :laughing3:

The plants are all happy and don't seem to mind the extra attention :laughing3:

We are having 3 hot days in succession here in Melbourne, with the overnight temps pretty high so it was time to harvest the Trout. Next week will be cooler, but I just couldn't risk another hot day tomorrow, and lose them all to the heat.

It's the earliest I've had to harvest my Trout, I usually get through to mid or late November, even harvesting early there were a few big fish in the batch, another 3 - 4 weeks growing they would have been monsters.

There were 2 fish that were absolute runts, they were lucky to be 150mm long.

I think that was a good move JB, otherwise you may have had slowly braised trout.
It was 47.5 C in my greenhouse today with auto vents open, but dropped down to 38C with the manual vents and doors open and mister system operating.
So far my silvers are loving it.

Yeah Nhibbo, it was a shame to harvest them a few weeks early, I'm off to the hospital this afternoon and wont be home until 7:00pm. That also helped with the decision to harvest early.

One of the runts I've kept and put it in the sump with the goldfish, there's no sun hits the sump and I'm running misting, so the runt has a chase of making it.

Gee that's pretty warm in your greenhouse, wait until we get weather up into the 40's.
