Given that having two different species of fish in one system is a bad idea, I'm going to leave my existing BYAP Courtyard system for silver perch and build a separate IBC system for trout/barra.

It's going to be a CHIFT PIST, made from 2 IBCs. I had already cut the top off one of the IBCs that will be the primary fish tank, and will have a 400l GB and 400-500l sump. I cut windows in the sump for access.

Went down to BYAP and had a good chat to Nat. He had a good idea of pushing some 40mm pipe through a drain plug for the SLO outflow. It took some hammering and WD-40, but it'll work quite well I reckon.

More pics as it progresses! Really want to get it up and running before trout season...

Looking forward to it Fuzz. Great idea by Nat jamming that 40mm through the drain. :thumbleft:

Spent the best part of the week putting lipstick on the pig, only to find that the metal frame makes a great lipstick remover. I wasn’t that fond on the colour anyway.

On the bright side, the plumbing fits nicely. I don’t think that will leak in a hurry.

All done, powered by twin-goldfish. Ready to supercharge it with Troutman's trout this weekend 8)

The old security grill fits almost perfectly over the FT to protect from curious wildlife.

The water is a bit brown at the moment, due to my heavy-handed use of chelated iron and worm wee. How fussy are trout about water quality?

A few shots of the GB.

The plants were doing okay up until the point I swapped my seasol foliar spray with worm wee spray. Apparently my worm wee might be a tad bit strong ...

That is one of the classiest dressed up IBC systems that I've seen Fuzzmonkey :notworthy:

Fuzzy I don't think it has been said yet so I would like to be the first. That is a very attractive system, and I would like to date it... bring it home grow some veggies with it... I think I could settle down with an attractive looking IBC like yours :geek: But seriously I am showing my wife your system so I can get approval for system number two :)
