Hey there, long time no hear :)

Pulled out one of the oldest perch in the tank today, who maxed out at 775g.

Nice fish FuzzyMonkey. Was this one of the original ones from a couple of years ago or have you restocked?

That fish looks good.... Too bad my wife doesn't like eating fish... Otherwise I would totally cook it like that!

Yeah this was one of the originals. Big, but a bit tough.

I lost 3 others about this size over the past few weeks. They went off their food for a few days before they started dying, which I assumed was just due to the cold weather. Levels were fine on the weekend, so hopefully it's just due to old age... Time to fire up the deep fryer!

Hi Sir Charles, sorry for the late reply - I'm not getting any notifications from the forums for some reason.

The systems are still kicking. Pulled this little 730g one out of the BYAP system last week. The missus tried this Vietnamese caramelised perch recipe, which I have to say is the best way I've had silver perch so far. Worth giving it a go!

Hey Fuzz man.

I was inspired by your harvest, so pulled three of my Silvers on the weekend and tried your recipe, only instead of making steaks, I ran with fillets. Brilliant. Best thing I did this time around was remove the thin strip of fat along the belly. The entire family complained about that last time. Might try cooking whole next time. Hate how much gets tossed away when I try to fillet the fish. Oh yes, I also skinned them this time. Needs a good sharp knife.

Cool - yeah fillets do waste quite a bit (unless you have a non-fussy cat). I cut my SP into mini-steaks, which worked quite well for this recipe.

Sorry for the late reply Sir Charles - have been off the forums for a while.

I put the system in stasis over the summer, as it was too cold (and expensive) to run with barra. I have 40 rainbows in there now, courtesy of Gav at Ferguson Springs. They are smashing the pellets, and non have managed to escape yet.

The wine barrel system is looking a bit worse for wear. The bands are rusting and need to be replaced. I have one silver in there who is a bit scared to come out.

How are your systems coming along?
