Was finally able to get the last growbed up and running , forgot how much I hate washing gravel.

Everything seems to be working well , keeping fingers crossed.

Am going to try to plant in the next few days.

little bit of a bummer today , I have been fighting the ants and aphids daily on my Jalapeno plants , spraying the aphids off with water every day and then hitting the plants with garlic spray. It seemed to be working pretty well but then today I noticed a bunch of holes on the leaves and also the peppers all had bites out of them. I did find a small caterpillar that may be the cause of the holes but am stumped by the bites though it may be bats.

Hi Markz,
Aphids and I think thrips are the Bain of my life at the moment, but only on the Chinese Mustard, but they get completely covered it is a daily spray with tobbaco and chilly spray,it works but there back shortly after, apart from some small catipillars on the sweet basil everything else is ok,but left unattended the amount of aphids and small white things on the mustard is unbelievable.
It's all looking good though Markz.

After all of the rain we have had lately my plants look like they are in deficient in something , my guess from looking at other posts is iron. I have tried to find chelated iron but cannot source it locally.

I started to give my Tilapia murungai along with there food since it is high in iron. Not sure if this is going to help or not but hope it will and the fish seem to enjoy the new addition to their diet.

Thanks for the information , I have bought seeds from them in the past cool little store. I have been searching for the chelated iron for awhile and never thought to look there.

Sourcing stuff has been the hardest thing for me with my system so far.

I was at an organic farm and was talking with the owner and they use it to help speed up composting so I bought some at Wilcon and have used it for my dirt garden to help speed up composting and it works well for that.

Looking at the sheet that came with it and the uses that they show I have thought about trying it but have not yet.

I may it in my small system as a test since I am going to take that one down at some point and move it.

I'm curious on it's effects on an AP system.. too bad my dad already used up his EM-1 before I was done setting up my AP system.. we got a good harvest from the vegetables that we used it on, considering that it was only container gardening..

would you please give an update when you have already tried it on your AP...

thanks in advance! :thumbright:

Will do

I am curious how did you use the em for your containers , did you spray it on the plants directly or add it to the soil? I have not tried it on the plants but am always looking for suggestions.

Lost a fish today , kind of bummed it was one of my larger ones and not really sure why  . Water quality looks good and all of the others are eating well. He looked a little lethargic this morning so I pulled him out and put him in another tank and by afternoon he was gone.

Made some progress today on shading my grow-beds , made a frame out of 3/4 pipe and made clips to hold the shade cloth in place using 1 inch pipe. Seems to be holding good. Hopefully this is what my greens need.
