Hi All Again, I have been cycling my system now for nearly 3 months, I have premission to stock Rainbow trout, and after contacting my local fisheries warden he tells me my application has now been passed on to the "Dept of the Marine" more .......red tape so I guess these guys are now going to do a thesis on trout and AP so I think I will give up on the idea of having charlie crap for the forseeable future.
Question; what should I be including along with Humonia or otherwise in order for my plants to be as healthy as possible and acheive the best growth possible, at present Amonia is 0 nitrites are 0 and Nitrates are 0.
I have 4,000lt's of water in my system and am adding about 750ml's of pee every day for the last 7 days with 0 ppm in my readings, 15 on 45 off.
No fisticuffs this time pleasehttp://backyardaquaponics.com/for ... post&f=18#

Can you not go with another species of fish for now? Maybe some goldfish or something you can pawn off on the neighborhood kids when you get your trout?

Humonia is a great and almost perfectly balanced fertilizer. Depending on the donors diet and health of corse :)
750ml a day should give you a spike in your readings befor dropping back to 0.
Have you tested at about one cycle after adding?
I have had no fish for almost 6 month while experimenting with chilling and heating.
I use humonia only. Many additives can mess a bit with your natural ph.
Can you test for iron?
What plant species are you growing?
As long as my plants look good I ad nothing.
What kind of permits do you need and is that based on size of your system?
I will be moving to Scotland in two years and haven't looked into permits and license.
Is that EU regulated?
Ben
