Mines a fair bit bigger, you don't think they may just swim to the other end? If all else fails I can put them in the AP system and keep the pool for my SP.

There are a lot of species that don't get stressed when you swim with them I suggest you choose one of them. Some of them are even native to Australia.

Also one of them in particular is really easy to feed because you don't need commercial pellets. Great for the doomsday home steader.

Bullshark.

Just remember its not canablilsm if your fish eat it first.

Its funny you say that because I'm so frightened of sharks that if I am in a pool and I see an I identifiable shadow I freak and get out!

Just whack in some catfish- once the kids brush against them, they wont want to swim in there again

I'm speaking from a painful experience in the Namoi River many years ago!

Eels would be good for that purpose.

3 weeks passed and the pool only got greener. I decided to do a pH and it measured 8.5, there were lots of crystals on hoses etc (guess either remnant salt or calcium build up) so I decided to ditch the whole lot and refil from dam which although contains some tannins is quite clean as it is spring fed. I wasn't interested in adding more chemicals to balance the system and we are heading into our rainy season so dam should get replenished soon (not that I can see and impact, it is a large dam).

The water cleared a little but not entirely due to the remaining sediment that was stirred up in the process. However pool is getting greener again since then. I have chucked in whatever floaties I have and today did a half-arsed shade sail erection using a tarp and some twine. I quite like the shade there now do might invest in a shade sail which will only benefit.

I'm really losing patience with the whole thing, wish I had started in winter, might have won my algae war then. I have a tiny but of duckweed on a floating raft which will also contribute to shade.

Will soon order my SP to help with the filamentous algae so when the water eventually does clear, the walls may be cleaned a little.

I look forward to posting at least some success soon. Kids not worried about swimming in the pool in this state so that's a bit of a bonus. They don't come out with sore eyes either and they don't need to shower to get the chlorine off.

3 days of over 38 deg predicted starting today and my pool is still swamp green. It is at least 3/4 covered now with a series of tarps, floaties and shade sails. Fish are happy, kids ok but not really impressed, hubby less than impressed. We wait it out...

Merry Xmas everyone!

It's Xmas day and the pool's still green. It's at lease 2/3 covered but it doesn't seem to have made a lick of difference. I've done egg whites, socks, pantyhose. Fish are growing very quickly. Getting a bit bored with the whole thing.
