Beet greens are pretty good if the beets don't fatten up :thumbright:

Very inspiring to see all those veg and melon photos from the desert! That papaya looks like it might need to be supported soon. Its such a fast grower and excellent fruit but from what I understand it might take over all of your grow space. I do not know which I would prefer.... a huge papaya and shade, or all the vegetables you had before. I hope you are able to have both.

Hey guys :]

Long time, much time spent in the desert staring at the stars and thinking of all of y'all

Mum has been keeping you guys somewhat updated but I'm working on a big update as am home on vacay now for the next few weeks, but mum and me both bit caught up with me little sisters wedding so may take a bit.

In short, the papayas ripened, the one eaten so far by the family was reported to be as sweet as a mango, another ought to ripen within a week or two so am very excited about that.

The okras were harvested, with a ladder!

There is a bunch of chives, lettuce, spinach and oregano in there right now.

I think the big trees have played havoc with the grow bed though, while the siphon is operating just fine it seems to be running in flood and drain at one end and continuous flooded on the other which is very strange, needs a bit of maintenance for sure which I will get to.

One big male tilapia and three females remain, they are highly jittery and spooked all the time, not breeding anymore. We plan on eating them on Sunday :D The frontosas which went in didn't make it and the goldies which had been in there since the start are gone too. Mum has added ten more random little goldies just an inch or so big.

I'm planning on putting in 50 (Fifty) goldfish into it of random denominations along with a pleco or two to power it over the next year.

So all in all good things, Youtube is still banned in Paki so not sure about the video update but mum has some more nice pictures which I shall try to share.

Hope everyone is healthy and happy, God Bless and drive safe!

And I'm back! No more Saudi days for me.

Moved back home in June, been settling back and have started an urban farming company :] selling stuff at a local farmers market and trying to kick it up higher.

The big system is doing great, added a 750 liter plastic FT to it, was a pain cycling it as it kept killing the goldies I put in it, 35 over the course of 3-4 weeks. Have fixed it up though with a dosing of salt. Also added a barrel as a sedimentation tank, it works but I have a feeling the flow is too high through it. The new FT has a dozen high fin carp, one oranda goldie and 10 black moors, the moors were added today. A big male tilapia is still in the ST, the others were are eaten and tasted divine, this one has been named Danny by mom so it lives one, mom is trying to get a female tilapia so he can have some company.

The papayas came out sweet as mangoes and were fantastic. Currently the system has a bunch of spinach which has some bug on it that is making the plants all crled in on themselves, am fighting that with my chili/garlic/neem concoctions, a huge marjoram bush from which I am making cuttings to sell, some chilis which were transplanted but are struggling, some Basil which is happy, some mint starts which are not, a big Hoya vine and a bunch of tulips that mom put in which are going gangbusters, faster and stronger looking than their compatriots in the containers.

Am putting together some micro systems as display/educational models as well, those should be up over the weekend. God willing will put up an update video over the weekend as well. Looking forward to hearing from you guys :]

Took me awhile to get back and do this but I checked out your link - :thumbright:. Congrats on getting to the Karachi Farmers Market. I enjoyed reading about what's been happening.

Cheers

P.S. - I do think you should post a link to the cherry tomato video over in your video tab so as your timeline gets longer, it's still easy to find.

On your page near the top there are some tabs or I suppose you could think of them as links (Timeline, About, Photos, Previews and More). One of the choices is MORE with a down arrow. If you click that you should get a choice for videos. I could be wrong but I think you can link to your videos so they show up on that page.

Cheers
