Have been at it for over a year now. Its now 4 growth beds, 2 sumps and 35 Jade Perch.

Growing a full bed of soya beans - hoping to harvest some edamame.

Another growth bed for salads and herbs.

Another for tomatoes

Another for Japanese Cucumbers (which I have grown by the kgs before) and beans.

Jade perch were purchased as fingerlings in November and are big already - I will have to get one out and measure but seriously with the high temps up here I would be expecting 1 kg specimens by June.

I have found that as the system gets older the plants just keep getting better.

Photo of the backup system. Dodgy but works perfectly. The relay is in the open but best that way as they do get hot. Obviously its all under cover.

Photo of the side of the system with a view of all the beds and sumps.

I use a 5000lph 40w pump and it is JUST enough to keep the syphons going. A photo of what is dribbling out after feeding all the beds. Not much left. At head height I think it may be pushing 2500 to 3000lph through the system.

My original beds had a mix of clay balls and 10mm quinkan rock. My new beds have 20mm quinkan only and I think its much better.

PH is always dropping and I adjust every month or so. The fish tell me when it drops below 6 - they go off their food. Push the PH up to around 6.5 and they feed normally again.

Jade Perch are the best. Ive had these guys in water temps of 33-34c and all OK. Incredible appetites and will eat just about anything.
