Just to put the pH of 9 into perspective - typical soap runs at a pH of between 9.0 and 9.5.

no blueberries, azaleas or roses.

citrus struggle, but i hammer galvanized nails into the trunks to provide trace elements, and the fruit are very sweet.

I add sulphur to the hole when planting new trees, and mix trace element supliments into the compost bin.

paw paw trees do really well

I have been letting the duckaponix run for a while and it is going great, beans and peas were prolific,
I had some flow issues but sorted them out with minor piping adjustments.
My latest thing has been to add a flood and drain strawberry rail above the grow beds. 100mm pvc mounted on the shed wall with net post running off a pump in a secondary tank. will post pics when its not raining

Looks like we have another new member on the forum looking at Doing Duckaponix. I just thought I'd bump this thread back up to make it easier for people to find.

By the way Duckpond, How has your Duckaponix been doing since no updates about it here in a long time.

DP,

+1.

Also wondering if there are any weed problems in growbeds: birds are great distributors of seeds of many sorts.

I'd like to know how it all went as well. I am setting up a system like this soon and am trying to gather as much wisdom as I can.

I too am trying to design a system. I was thinking I would have my raised duck pond overflow into a swirl filter and then a bio or another swirl into grow beds which would drain into a sump to return to pond. I figured the pre filtering out solids would extend pump life and reduced problems connected to duckponix any thoughts on this type of setup? I only have 2 ducks in 200 gallons of water. I would love to have someone to bounce ideas off that have done or even are in the planning stage as well.
