Tall man, did you paint your IBCs black to help warm them?

Hey r58,
I painted the GB's black to prevent algae (well painted one, the other was from a black IBC).
The FT IBC I didn't paint black, just wrapped in two layers of black plastic weed mat.
Cheers, T

Picked up my 30 baby Barra on Saturday. They've been taking pellet well from the first day. Sweet.

The Barra are eating really well now so I figured it's about time to cull the two perch that have been in the sump keeping the nitrification cycle going for the last couple months. There was a big old Jade which weighed 1026g (2.26lb) and a Silver which weighed 366g (0.8lb).
I saw the below Youtube vid showing how to skin and fillet perch without scaling or gutting so gave that a go.

I can definitely improve. I let the knife run too deep on the first cut along the backbone so lost some flesh which came off with the skin. But I think it's an excellent technique and I'll improve at it. The second fish I did better job.
It makes cleanup very easy. No scales everywhere and no guts.

Nice work T, I personally have not scaled a fish in probably at least 20 years, and I fish quite a bit in the summer months. I do remember when I was pretty young that my father made me scale some fish that I had caught... I think he did it just so he could enjoy how much of a pain it was... he has always enjoyed laughing at me when I do something that he knows how to do better... then I learned how to filet fish... so much easier than scaling them! It does get a lot easier with practice... really all of the fish that I catch here (other than catfish) once you get a feel for it you could probably filet them with your eyes closed because the knife just glides along where it needs to go. Catfish I still filet the same way, they are just a little harder to do, but I still filet them to remove the skin then just cut out the mud vein and good to go.
