This will be very similar but instead of the 12v power supply for the relay I will just hook 110 power to A1 and A2.
The red wire to the pump will go to 21 and the positive side of the 12v batty goes to 22 the normally closed connection.

A1 and A2 110 volts
21: pump red wire
22: battery + 12 volt (put a fuse close to the battery)
Battery black – goes to pump – black side.
But contactors are used to run elevators very robust.

This will work the same way when 110 power is there no power will go to the pump. loose power it will power the pump.

A contactor is just a very heavy duty relay.

21,22 are the normally closed contacts so when 110 volt power is applied it will open the contacts.
Then when we lose power it will close the contacts giving power to the air pump.

I should add that the contactor I got could easily handle a 110 Volt ac air pump.

We are cycled today. :)

I dosed 1 ppm ammonia yesterday morning.
And today
PH it is about 6.8
Ammonia is about .0 ppm this came down from yesterday.
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate is showing up at about 30
I just need to setup a time to meet up to get my fish.

Should I dose about .25-.50 ppm Ammonia each day until I get my fish?

Well it will help test the system at best but do you have plants already to go to take out the goods once it transforms the ammonia

We have a lot of plants most of them have been in the system about 20 days now. They are not doing that good without fish.

I mean as long as some iron is in the system I would imagine that should get you by as your fish will be there soon correct?

I don’t have fish yet but I am trying to setup a time to get them.

I have been adding some maxicrop and the tomato plant had been looking good be now it looks like this.
Any idea what it needs?

In here somewhere was a great article about what a plant looks like and what it needs. I don't know if I have it saved but will look for you. IL still a newbie but research has helped allot.

Ok we made it back home with 30 tilapia about 4-5 inches long. This is a good size to start with. We had to transfer them in 5 gallon buckets down a bunch of stairs one jumped out of my sons bucket.
This fish fell about 15 feet to cement and was flopping around. I put it back in the water but it seemed fine.

They all made it here safe for now into my fish tank. My new air pump ran great we had it runing for about 2 hours.
Here are the fish in their new home.

Thanks we are excited to have the fish.

They all survived the night. The fish that took the big jump to the cement. Was looking very bad but he is still hanging on. I will be surprised if he makes it.

I did not feed them yesterday but I just tried to feed them today but they are not ready to eat just yet maybe later.

Water is @ 69 deg/ 20.5 C
All the water test are very good.
PH it is about 7.2
Ammonia is about .0
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate about 30 ppm

This is my first time raising fish so it is all new to me.
