my system has cycled,(900 l fish tank, 300l filters, 2 300l dw beds), I have 35 2 month old tilapia installed, I have lettuce, celery, parsley growing in the dw beds.
Algae has appeared. The fish tank water is brown, there is a thin coating on the walls.
Are there fish which eat algae and are compatible with baby tilapia?

Algae bloom is normal (I was surprised with how much algae bloomed in mine) and will go away. Also, tilapia eat algae :thumbleft:

Patience and go easy on the feeding.

Post pics and water test results for better analysis/opinion.

+1 the main thing is keep the system circulating 24/7 and if you have enough growbed media filtration the algae will end up there. The fish will need the circulation for keeping oxygen levels up as well.

algae or green layer on the edges/sides of fish tank is no problem - that is normal and it will be there for life of system.
The fish will nibble at it.

Hello....Shall we not encourage Algae to grow in our AP system? My understanding is they do bad more than good, as they take up our nutrient competing against our plants.

Keep Fish and Sump Tanks in full shade would reduce the growth of Algae.
