I have the design on multiple pieces of paper here and at work. I will work on getting those up as well.

Looking forwards to the addiction. More pics of my tinkering to come.

Beautiful pond! Is that a fake rock next to the waterfall hiding an external pump? What type of fish are you planning? Can't wait to see more! Keep the pics, drawings and questions coming.

Thank you RairdogAP. it was hard work. not as much work as Ronmaggi put into his project, I cheated, the hole was already there :headbang:
I have no faux rocks, all of them are real, and heavy  . One pump is submerged on one end of the pond, that one was connected to a filter, until I noticed how much the filter slowed down the rate of water flow. As of now, no filter and pumping closer to its 500 GPH with only about 3.5- 4 ft lift. it is rated at 10.5 ft. It is only for waterfall as of now.

I purchased another pump to use with RFF and GB. its rated at 396 gph with 6.5 ft lift. As I type this I realize that I might want to swap the functions of the pumps. As of now this pump is working well enough with filter and I don't expect any issue when GB are added. But time will tell.

I plan on using goldies and Koi. We don't plan on consuming our fish and I know that they can survive our weather with no issues. as they did last year, but I am getting ahead of my back story.

Fish start to vanish. Can't figure out why!! no legs to walk away, no wings to fly. Not hiding in any of the places that I made for them. Then it all comes together. :upset:

And its not even our damn cat.

NO FISH as of now, for multiple reasons, and net over pond to prevent future "fish in a barrel" disappearances.( see first Pics for net.)

@nautiboi - A very nice looking pond, btw do you have monitor lizards at your location?? I have them poaching fishes/visiting frogs here from my in-law's pond. Since then i had to remove 1 dead and half rotting medium sized lizard and several half eaten/drown frogs. They drown getting tangled with the net.

Please share your plan for your system, really interested to see how you are going to incorporate the pond.

Regards

We have lizards and one did die in my net, but my lizards are only 6-7 inches longs, so no worries about them posing a danger to my fish. I did get a dragonfly in there too recently but I am guessing that a bird came and cleaned him out for me because the next day I was going to remove him, he was gone. We have two frogs but no issues with the net as of yet. most of my rocks overhang the edge of the pond to aide in fish having places to feel safe. I had to place 1 rock sloped in the ponds so that the frogs could get out if they happened to end up in the pond. I have to assume that it works because I have seen them in the pond before and I have never had one belly up.

Still working on posting plans. I drew them on Company paper with logo and can't post those online. I will make a small copy that I can post.

@nautiboi - I see, the lizards here can grow into the meters/feet, the one i had to remove was about an arm length and it stunk like hell. The pond my father in-law installed is like a sushi train for the local wild life. Whenever i visit him, i never wonder out at night if the frogs stops croaking out of a sudden, heard from my wife that cobras occasionally visits.

Regards

Hey Nauti, I'm really liking your thread so far! I don't know if I missed it or not, but are you planning on having more than just the two grow beds from the one barrel?

I don't see any benefit from having a sump in my system. My FT is the lowest point in my system and don't see adding a ST and another pump as any benefit . If there is something that I am missing in regards to the ST let me know. before I complete build.

I have concerns about my system and a leak or accident and my pond going dry. This is the reason for the second pump for the AP. the pump is on the 2nd tier of my pond so that is something were to go wrong the fish would be left with at least 1-1.5 feet of water to survive in until I could correct or repair anything.

I may add an overflow from barrels to pond as another safety precaution.

I will be getting a testing Kit, but until then I am testing water at PetSmart for Free :D I will post results this weekend. May add 20 or so commets to pond in about a week.

Thanks. :headbang:

Yes That is correct sir. Just 2 GB's for now. I feel as though I will be able to add the system later.

I am watching cost as well as I expect to spend more bucks on grow media. Don't want to out pace my "play budget"
