Tired of messing with algae. Installed a UV light.

Closed loop with return back to growbed. Eventually I'll feed back to the tank when I have the time (patience) to set the flow equal to what I currently have the return bypass. I'll have to figure oit current flow on the immediate return and set it to the same rate. Then maybe I can extend my evap top off for a longer duration instead of every other day?

PH still climbs high in the evening, but everytime I dose, these guys pretend they are going upstram and get a mild acid bath.......

"prepare to be assimilated".......

"resistance is futile"......

Built some chicken feeders out of 4" pvc.

Started to make my connections to my growbed to serve as my top off so that I could bring it online to make it coupled/decoupled and made a few plantings.

Image

Ill continue today with trying to adjust flows so that out = in. I have approximately 11.4 gallons coming from the filter return back to the tank (flows gravity) . I will eventually try to bump that number up so that of the four growbeds will get 3 gpm each. The secondary pump added to the barrel with UV/filter sock is right around 8.9 gpm that will return to FT. so I'll be shooting for the 2.5gpm out of the filter loop with the remaining off to the growbeds and tweak from there. Making the growbed(s) my sort of autofill reservoir.

Ill also be building the start of the air distribution system for the airstones in the culture beds as well as converting my existing SUFF into another MBBR and ulgrading that piston pump as well.

Between the IBC and the first barrell, things are settling pretty well and if I keep up with the algae agitation, I only have to worry about 50 ish gallons to now send to MT loop (opposed to 275 gallons IBC/barrell)

Looking great Adam. You've opened my eyes to balancing flows. I like the way you put it: out = in.

Time to get back at it...... I have had 7 days of temps on the mid 70's-80 while snow/rain/wind/etc has been going on back home.

Cant wait to see the changes and begin completing the rest of my loops as well as towers and Dutch buckets.

Adam pH will naturally climb during the day because the plants will consume CO2 from the water during the day while photosynthesizing then it falls at night due to no photosynthesis occuring the CO2 levels increase.

I wonder if part of the battle with pH is that people filter out too much waste. More waste would allow more bacteria which will also lead to lower pH. My issue is that my peak stone probably has some lime in it so it keeps it buffered up higher.

I have had 9 days of basically no input from me. A friend cleaned off the wedge wire every other day.

I do see those trends with PH, but will do analysis of parameters and see how they are now with the last data set.

There was no crisis reported, so all of my redundant measures seem to keep things ticking along. I just need to bring my growbed online and set the elevation so I can complete the circuit.
