Hi guys

I moved house a few years ago and managed to relocate one of my IBC tank and GB setups from the old system to the new house. I has then sat in the corner of the yard for about 5 years while I got renovations and horse arenas and other things done that have taken my time away from AP.

Well that was until this weekend when I finally pulled my finger out and got it setup. This will again be just the start of the new system build but as with the original system at he old place this is how I got started and the system will grow and evolve from here.

welcome back, things pretty quiet here over Easter but people usually around.

don't you find the pump causes a bit too much vibration in that location on the side ?
Usually put mine on a brick/block in the bottom.

perhaps delete the duplicate as images didnt work.
this one is fine. (or else hopefully mod's will)

The pump is just suction capped to the side of the tank, I have never had any issue with vibration. this is just a small aquarium pump but since the current system is only 700lt FT and 200lt GB it should do me until I expand. I brough the pump up to get a photo of it. The 1200lph should be enough to turn my system over every hour at this stage.

I would delete that post if I knew how. maybe admin can sort it out.

After filling the tank I ran a few tests and came up with an interesting results which I posted in another post. Ph was 7.6 Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 but Nitrates were up around 20-40ppm

I have used tank water from one of my existing gal household water tanks and it appears that it must have its own biofilter as the water seems to be pre cycled as indicated by the Nitrates level.
If this is correct then I decided to add veggies straight away and added some seasol as i dont have any fish yet.
I was thinking of getting some goldfish to start off the system to get things cycled. now im thinking i could just jump straight into some trout.
I will wait and see how things settle over the next week or so.

i am putting a greenhouse cover over the system as we can get the odd frost up my way and have noticed growth seem to stagnate a bit during winter.

I have also set up my strawberry tower again and planted some runners frommy dirt garden.

The plan for the rest of the system will be to expand from this single IBC and run another 5 IBCS, i want to run some deeper ibc growbeds and even some DWC tanks.
