Looks good. When you look into shade cloth maybe have it on the inside like a curtain. Can be moved around to adjust the light. With a few wires on the ceiling you can have it there as well. Don't have to worry about the wind throwing it around.

Running out of fish nutrients is a worry to me too... that's why including vermicomposting in my design with rabbits over. Back-up plan. Wish it was already up and running so could tell you... but one day not to far away! :D

Love that laserlite you have used. Checking to see if we have something similar. Your set-up is fabulous!

You got "whirly birds" there in OZ? Can see them here: http://hydor.co.za/index.php?option=com ... &Itemid=33
I have them in the SQ and in the roof above each bedroom in the house. Rising heat causes them to turn and really helps. No electricity needed but can have them with a motor as I do in the house. I think they are really neat and would work well for you there in your set-up in summer. Put a cover over in winter.

Only goldies until January - no-one has reasonably priced SP.
I've bought a few things from aquablue so I trust him when he says I'm on the list for delivery.

P.S. Snails have bred in the tank with the mussels in it.

Took them straight home as the water bottle wasn't very cool.
Not Aquablue's fault, they pack stuff pretty well.

Just in time as a few crops need to be replanted. Tomatoes need to be picked all the time or they really strain the trellis (only temp trellis anyways...)

Put in a pump-out.
Connection is threaded in case I put on more than a garden hose.

They're so tiny.... probably just as well .... carting around advanced fingerlings for 4-5 hours on a hot day is a nightmare... even with 20/bag...

Yeah. Luckily the bag still had that O2 smell when opened.
Some were a good size though (~60mm).

Following on from TCLynx's comment in the sequential GB thread about getting someone else to look after the system for you, I thought it time to put an auto top-up mechanism in place.
I used a normal float valve attached to the side of a 100mm DWV bit of pipe, 2 elbows, a tap riser and a hose connector at the top.
I put a 2L ice-cream container over the bottom, and filled that and about 1/2 the pipe with QS cement. This helps it stand upright.
By getting one of those float valves with string on the ball, it's easy to adjust the height.

In operation, note the string is not taut, and is thus topping up the tank.

And when tank is topped up just right when pump is running...

(Note difference with this tank, SP aren't in it and the snails can reproduce and clean off the algae)
