My system is inside this outbuilding that I constructed last summer. At the moment, the entire front right corner roof is gone and I am putting up twin wall polycarbonate.

Enjoy the pics

4x12 foot panels John, two of them. When I opened that roof up, every seed that was dormant sprang up. I don't know what to call the room now. It's not a shop, not a greenhouse, any suggestions?

Are you doing DWC Mike - can't see any media in the beds? If so what are you doing to remove the solids and for biofiltration?

VB - Media is pea gravel and the solids are pumped directly into the grow beds via the standpipe in the main tank. The sump tank no longer has gravel substrate in it, and I keep the sump tank clean by dumping any solid accumulation from fingerlings to the grow beds. The growbeds are the bioreactor. I will have to clean the beds next spring. DWC? Is that Hydroton?

No DWC is deep water culture. Because your picture of the grow-bed shows no gravel, I assumed you were running without it.

No, these photos were taken at startup. I had yet to fill the grow beds and took about 50lbs. of gravel from my former system and dumped into the sump tank to start the bacteria colony. I added fingerlings to the sump tank shortly therafter and then slowly added gravel to the beds. I didn't even plant the beds until I was sure there was nutrient build up in the system. I then moved the fingerlings to the main tank when they got four inches each. The sump tank was cleared of all substrate and 20 more fingerlings were placed into the sump tank. Now the system is working good although teh pea gravel has proven way too heavy for these lightweight plastic troughs. This winter I may rebuild I dont know yet.
