Hi all,

This is my first post on BYAP and it's about an AP system I'm currently building.

My system is in my lounge room. The FT contains 2 jaguar cichlids, 4 convict cichlids, 4 bristlenose catfish and 4 upside down catfish (all babies). In the near future I plan to add some clown loaches and 1 or 2 angel cichlids.

The FT has a total capacity of about 220L and is filled with about 180L.

The growbed is located above the FT as shown in the photo below. It's a 50L storage tub from my local big box hardware store. I'll only be filling it to about 200mm depth which will give me a volume of approximately 30L.

I have not done any plumbing yet. The plan is to have an airlift pump supplying well oxygenated water to the growbed. This water will be drained with a bell siphon.

Lighting is supplied by two Edison screw LED growlights (I don't know what their lumens output is) and 2x18W fluoro tubes as seen in the photo below.

As for plants I'm planning to grow bok choy, corainder and parsley.

If this first growbed works I'll be adding more to the left of the FT.

I'll keep this thread updated with photos as my project continues. This is my first go at AP so any and all comments and tips are most welcome.

***** I'm having trouble uploading a photo. Will try again later *****

Look forward to seeing the pics. You might need to resize them. There are some threads here that might help - http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

Cheers
