Hello all, a bit about my system. Right now I only have one grow bed working and two under construction. The working bed is fiberglass. The two I’m working on are made of a wood frame with lath and stucco as the liner. All three of the beds use bell type auto siphons. The fish [tilapia] are kept in three “mega bins” plumbed together. The tanks are also plumbed so that they over flow to a sump. In the sump there is one pump split 6 ways to supply the beds and tanks. The whole thing sits on a concrete slab with a wooden frame topped with sun tuff roofing material. Hope you enjoy the pics, Jon

It was a good week. I found a local gent interested in ap enough to take my old system out of the yard. I think he may have been more excited than me. Poor guy! He’s got the ap bug bad. Earlier in the week we picked up a load of rock. Today we started the washing process my helper told me “washing rock is no fun”. He stayed hard at it for a bit, but he has the attention span of a three year old and he works for lollipops.

Thanks, we’ve had a few meals off of them and the kale. They are great sautéd with turkey bacon.

stucco, what was your layup schedule for plastering the new GB? From the pictures it looks like you did a ferrocement then followed with with another layer?

The finish layer is watertight coat by sto. http://www.stocorp.com/servicessto.nsf/ ... estions#R7 It’s used on architectural foam parapet bands. Most of the synthetic stucco companies have their version. There are also epoxy grouts and mortars that are for use in contact with potable water. http://www.sikaindustry.com/search.htm? ... 11&ie=UTF-

That old system wouldn’t do anything but ugly up the sweet system that u have.
Wilmington is the only other place I’ve ever lived. I can’t remember exactly where, but I went to college park elementary.

Good! I’ve never used the quote button before. I made a grow bed this week using styro foam. It has the same watertight coat. it turned out to be heavier than I wanted, but it looks good and holds water.
