Never a stupid question but if you stated tip pruning your tomato plant stopping it growing so far, would that help produce more fruit.

No once it goes past the next join it wont send out new fruit below that
The further this plant goes the more its setting fruit
In the big commercial hot houses after they reach the roof they just let the plant down and let the end keep going I think I have a photo some were

Thanks Milne,

I was looking into this and they appear to be wicking pots or SWC

well, anyway this gave me an idea to put my wicking pots in a shallow sump and supply water to the sump from tap so that I don't have to worry about watering them every week.

Same here Milne, they've only touched the Cabbage and Snow peas so far, I haven't been able to catch any as yet and I've had 6 traps plus a possum trap set for days now. :upset:

They're nice looking tomatoes you've got growing there :thumbright:

grrr, I have seen a mouse in my greenhouse the last couple of weeks. I noticed he was climbing up and eating my tomatoes too, I would think it was a good looking tomato and grab it only to get a handful of slime. I saw it on top of my fish tank one day where there was probably a few pieces of fish food that hadn't fallen into the tank properly and it ran down the side of the fish tank. So I put some glue traps out there and come back a couple of days later and the glue trap that I sat on top of the fish tank is gone... so hopefully I got him but I don't know if he fell in the fish tank or back behind it where I can't see... hopefully he was stuck well enough that he died one way or another. I thinned my tomato plants out quite a bit last weekend and pulled off all of the ripe tomatoes and tossed all of the nasty ones so now I should be able to tell if there are still mice in there if I see any new tomatoes getting eaten. Might have to toss poison in there if the little buggers aren't going to get stuck to the sticky traps and die where I can see them.

Rininger don't use poison anywhere near your system, most rat poisons are made up of caustic soda so the rodent goes of looking for water and dies somewhere else, there's a big chance it would finish up in your fish tank.
