Yes... that is certainly one of my concerns... so consider either painting them or covering them with black plastic... Anyone knows where to get black plastic??

Well since I am kind of without work at the moment, I decided that I should spend my time productively... So the 3rd system is going ahead...

The plans did not change much from the previous post... still using IBCs on the raised part of the backyard... 2000L fish/sump tank on the lower part of the backyard with an additional 500L BYAP growbed (to blend into the existing BYAP Entertainer setup).

Some ground preparation, leveling, weed mat, etc...

Well the bad weather out there means that I spend more time indoors on the forum. Good time to update with some photos.

Don't have a lot of space in my backyard so expansion is staged. 2x IBCs cleaned out, painted with exterior paint (a bit crappy, but that is another story... http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7737), moved into location as shown. Trenched for drain pipes.

More clearing and levelling on the other side...

Thanks to Rick my 2000L has got a tank cover. Just need to secure some bird netting over it to stop jumpers and it should be ready to go... Might need to probably secure it down as well I suppose. Although the tank cover is rather heavy, small 2yr olds can be quite strong at times...

I also got another cover for the 1000L tank (seen the background of the photo above). The square sloppy mesh will be replaced with a nice round one below.. Photo shows it in halves.

Thanks guys.

Mantis, well I think there is a bit of trick to use Google Sketchup. Sometimes grouping things helps... plus most of the tanks, IBCs, etc can be found online. I believe Joel is creating a library of common components, like blue barrels, etc as well.

A bit of hard labour today... *taking a short rest now*

Had 2m3 of blue metal delivered... some miscommunication with the delivery guy, hence the heap of blue metal is across my driveway. Luckily I don't use one side of the garage, so start moving the gravel from the other side...

Still looks dirty but I figured, I got most of the fines out so let the system do the rest of the cleaning...

Put a sock on any outlets with some filter wool in it, it'll pick up the fines pretty quickly.
