Hi guys,
most likely the last thing i do before going away for 4 months,
cleared all the veggies from the 2 dig garden beds in the hot house / green house.
Attached is a photo of where the 3 x 300L beds will be located,
have a mate who is going to weld up a stand for the GB's, this won't happen till i get back,
got a bit of digging to do between now and then,

regards

Matt

Ok!!
Now that Im back I have made a start on my second system which has changed a little. Still CHIFT PIST, but my sump has been changed a little to accommodate the little funds that i have in my account.
Have now got 3 IBC's with the top 350mm cut off for GB's and the bottoms will become my sump linking them together with the similar adaption that Candyman used on his system. This actually will increase the size of the sump to around 1500L which will give me plenty of room to move. Banged 2 cypress posts along the top & placed the GB's on top. Gave them a bit of paint and placed them in the hot house. My plans of digging out the ground to place the sump in so that the GB's would be lower failed when I hit the easement below so they will have to stay where they are.
Anyone got any fish they need to get rid of?? Can you still get trout at this time of the season??

Matt

Yeah I gave them a quick coat of paint because of 2 main reasons, 1 because the white IBC's are not UV tolerant and it has been widely reported that they break down after a couple of years of being exposed to sunlight, 2nd is to minimize the light that helps the algae grow.
Krosbolt, you got a contact number for Buxton????

regards

Matt

Hey Matt. I too am only stages away from trout but then again ive been saying that since March. Just can't seem to get completely ready quick enough. Especially after reading and learning from others mistakes when keeping trout. I want to be sure I'm ready even if that means waiting till next winter! I'm planning to do a bit of work this saturday, see how it goes. If I do get around to it and get the FT2 online I will be putting my massive goldfish in first to make sure conditions are right for trout. Once Im ready for trout I will be looking to off load some Gold fish and maybe even some SP. I'll keep you posted but by this stage you may already have some trout!

Faye,
Yeah, straight into it, actually I've been home for 2 weekends.(one was a long weekend) thanks once again for showing me around the BYAP shop a few months back. I still dream of what it is like to have a job in AP....

Attached is a photo of some solar cells that i'm building. I'm planning on integrating it in to the AP systems back up plans. The plan is to be able to run a small pump and air pump to a small GB to keep fish happy if there is any power issues. Hopefully this is running 24/7 with the help of at least 1 100Ah battery & solar charger set up. still got to find money to build the frames. Anyone have first hand experience with AP & solar??

regards
Matt

What paint did you use? (does it make it UV stabilized?)
