Our property is now completely inundated with water. Annual rainfall in a few days is a bit much to manage! Flooding is far worse than in November, but we can still smile as we can still sleep in our own bed. Just hoping we built our house high enough as it is still raining. Feel great sympathy for those in Qld who have their homes inundated and their daily life in chaos.
I run a small business and that is under water, so will have to close until the water subsides and we can clean up the mess.
Hubby is out with the SES sandbagging other peoples homes, so quite a bit of flooding in the area.
Hoping that our catfish in our dam haven't escaped as the dams, our place and our neighbouring properties are now one massive lake.

Thanks for the support. We are ok. Have managed to pump some water away from a small area around our house, but not much we can do for the rest of the property. Our son came home from Melbourne to help and had to take a long way home due to flooding in many areas. So many small towns have been flooded & isolated and major roads cut off. It will be interesting to see how high the Murray gets here when all that water enters it! Our flooding was not from the river, but from the very high rainfall and the irrigation drains overflowing, so only affected low areas in the irrigation district; but if the river breaks it's banks then many areas in town will flood.

Power was off for a while yesterday which was the first time it's been off for more than a few minutes since installing our AP systems. The battery back up seemed to work fine, but today i had 1 dead silver perch and 1 looking sick. The other 60+ look fine. Have tested the water and all tests were fine. Can anyone tell me if Potassium permanganate (condi's crystals....(not sure of spelling)) is safe to use in AP?

No... not safe... it would suck the oxygen out of the water.. and kill more fish...

Use pure sea salt... Sunray from Bunnings ($7 for a 20kg bag)... to treat disease (3ppt) or stress (1ppt)...

Although it sounds like your fish probably died from oxygen depravation...

Hi Tristrin, just wondering how everythings going? How is your water situation? Are your parents in Irymple OK?

We havent driven over to look at the floodwaters so not sure if its going down for them or still sitting around... Our local shopkeeper was saying that one of the Rep's that visits his shop each week travels through Irymple from Red Cliffs. She was saying that her car reeks from just driving through the water as there is so much sewerage in it. Not sure if this is accurate, but either way its a scary situation.

Hi Naz
My Parents in Irymple are fine. The water drained away very quickly from their area, but i was in Irymple yesterday and there is still a lot of water about.
We have got rid of most of the water from our place, it's just in some low lying areas. But our dams are full and the soil is saturated so now even a small rain event could be a problem. Lots of plants dying and a huge mess to clean up! I am taking photos of our progress and the changes we make and will post them on the Backyard Farming forum, as i think they are more appropriate there.

Good to hear folks are OK.

Sorry to hear about your beautiful gardens being so damaged. :support: ... but I am sure it will be even more spectacular than before by the time you have finished!

Take care and will check for updates on the BFF. Cheers
