Do you know, what is the material of the liner? Do you know any internet links to that type of liner?

FWIW I have seen much denser populations of fish in operations in Israel in the Jordan Valley. They also had very active sediment removal, heavy aeration and strong filtration, no aquaponics sadly.

Hi tech systems, heavily capitalized and the operators were effectively working for the bank and feed company, just like chicken growers.

Just a note, I am a lurker, checking the list daily and noting new info,

these threads on members system's are a treasure, so many excellent useable ideas.

I have a number of favorites, all for different reasons, the one I keep coming back to is Janet Pelletier's, beauty in simplicity, and potential.

I am returning to Israel in 2 weeks but will continue to lurk and absorb. Come winter I will be growing out fingerlings for brood stock.

Thank you for all of the excellent info.

good luck

MY WIFE BOUGHT ME 2 KIO AND 3 GOLDFISH
I KEPT THEM IN A SMALLER SYSTEM BUT..........
THEY ENDEN UP IN MY DUCKWEED DAM
1 KIO AND 1 GOLDFISH DIED
I LEFT 2 GOLDFISH IN DUCKWEED AND MOVED
THE KIO INTO MY BIG DAM BETWEEN THE TILAPIA
THAT IS LESS THAN A YEAR AGO
THE KIO ATE WHAT THE TILAPIA ATE
A GOOD TILAPIA DIET.
FED MAX............ WHEN WATER PARAMETERS ALLOWED ME TO.....
THE FISH IN MY DAM ATE AVERAGE 2 KG FOOD PER DAY IN SUMMER
THE KIO OUTGREW THE TILAPIA BY +-200%(IN 1 YEAR FROM 150MM TO NOW ..............300MM +
AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT KIO WANT BETTER WATER QUALITY THAN TILAPIA

NOW WITH ALL MY UPS AND DOWNS THE KIO IS HEALTHY AND HAPPY

LIKE THE MINERS USE TO TAKE A BUDGY IN A CAGE WHEN THEY WENT UNDERGROUND
THE KIO IN MY SYSTEM TELLS ME THAT
WITH ALL MY PROBLEMS MY FISH WERE HAPPY

HIGH STOCKING AND HEAVY FEEDDING AND ME STRESSING
VERY GOOD LEARNING CURVE

Koi are actually normally really tough fish. I think most people just want better water quality to display them, otherwise I expect they are probably as tough if not tougher than the tilapia (since the koi can survive cold water too.)
In any case, sounds like yours is thriving.
