hiya CJ..

One of the Pic's you posted intrigued me..
the Picture of the stream Does it run All year round? and how far does it Fall..?

If it flows all year and has a good drop in height it might be a good Source of water for a Micro-hydro system..
- you would need to make a Catchment Dam and have a good size pipe to Flow water down to a Pen-stock..

good Luck with your system..

The stream dries up in spots if we get a summer drought (but I can move my cows lower down the stream where they can usually still drink). It can also be a problem at -20°F but (for the cows at least) they have opted to eat snow.

We have talked about micro-hydro. It could provide at least a trickle of current when we need it - now - during a wet fall. The stream isn't that far from the house, but far enough to make the power transmission an issue.

It's against the law to make a catchment dam unless the source of the water is on your property. There is a very, very, small dam in existence (like 20 gallons) which provides a little storage & pressure for the pipe which provides water to the garden & some livestock.
