Well guys i have done it again who has seen 850 jades dead in a wheelbarrow?? you wanna see Its easy to do ....... so now my total is 2000 jades bought mmmmmm i still have 9 left so damn no 100% strike rate yet
well I now have lost 2 major lots of jades to storms.... so where were my backup i hear you say ....after the first lot of mass murder I put in place a couple of backup ideas.....so then came the next stuff up and i put a couple of more safety backup systems in place ....BUT ALAS another failure point that i had recognised but not implemented is where it all went wrong....So let me just say Iam not too bothered now about loosing them but if you guys can get even 1 piece of info off me stuffing up then not so bad....

So
#1 - MAKE SURE they cant run out of water
#2 - MAKE SURE they cant run out of air
#3 - MAKE SURE you have a battery backup to cover at least the air
#4 - MAKE SURE YOU check them 2-3 times a day as this alone can save you
#5 - possibly have a flashing light on the power to show its running OR have a flashing light to show its not.... (i'm in the bush so i cant annoy anyone with this option)

Bugger Double Decker.

If you can take a positive out of it you now have some nice fertilizer you can bury and plant a nice tree on top of.

Well i have found the culprit Water has worked its way through a cover then through multiple seals(still good not degraded or broken) and enough that it had pooled near the solenoid which then through out the mains switch... but what really annoys me is the pump was going through a red safety box first and that didnt throw out if it had of then i'da been right .....Oh well cant get any more jades til late December I can get murray cod right now but only 1 inch long ... might think about them .....

and yes they are in the compost & there are always positives after you stop cursing and carrying on.... hehehehehe :thumbright:

Why does this sort of stuff happen when the shops are closed hehehe

Well rigged the old pool pump to system its 40 mm pipe not 25 so had some hunting to find the right conversion pieces hehehe

The scary part is that the old pool pump is 1KW whereas the buggered pump was only a 400Watt pump so wholey crap it pumps to water out so i have put a low water level float valve switch on the pump that way it suck alot of water then turns off when the water drops a foot

working well atm too big for the single 5000 ltr tank will have to pipe up the second tank to be better

Got any spare bits and pieces (well a t piece and some pipe) to divert some water back to where you are pumping from?

Hi Double Decker,
Wow mate there are some good fish there. The only solution for trouble free AP I've found
is a large water mass per KG of fish.

I killed lots of fish, trout in particular. The more water in my system per Kg of fish gave a buffer to fix problems before it became lethal.

Thanks for posting your experience. Good luck for your next batch,

God bless, froggo.

I feel your pain. How long did they sit for till you discovered them? I discovered my 'ahead of schedule, unplanned harvest' a few hours down the line. Most fish where on the bottom of the tank. I gutted them and shoved them in the freezer and had no problems. Taste just fine. Just cause they die of lack of oxygen does not mean they can't be eaten. Then again it was mid winter and the water temp was about 8 degrees....
