This bloke said he's had them in for a year or so very boring !! :sleepy: but at the same time very exciting
He has them hanging in racks in I think he said a 2000L tank all home made system blue barrel grow beds
No drop off in veg production at all since changing over from silver perch
He's only a young bloke works in a pet store and is very keen even looking into producing pearls from them
I could see his brain ticking over on where he wanted to go with it all
I'v got a full on weekend so I will try and see him on Monday

Pearl farming in your own backyard! sounds great, but as far as im aware oysters are a marine mollusc, and the freshwater equivilant would be a mussel?

In the USA they use the shell of fresh water oysters to make the seeds that are put into a real oysters from which pearls grow. Apparently (from memory) this is a specialised business and quite lucrative.

A bit of googling suggests in fresh water they tend to use mussels, you can get a number of pearls going in each one, and as Johnfenn mentioned the seeding of them is a little bit complicated. It does sound as though it is being done around the world commercially though
